This receiver has everything. Power, blue tooth, remote control, etc.. Sounds great and needs no pre-amp for phonograph connection plus can be controlled from my i-phone too. Perfect!

This is an excellent inexpensive 2 channel stereo receiver. The Bluetooth feature works well with no problems. I access the blue tooth wireless with my cell phone and tablets and effortlessly play music apps that sound great. I have easily attached my cd player and cassette deck to the receiver. I purchased this Sony receiver because it has phono inputs so that I can play my vinyl records. It allows you to attach two pairs of speakers. The unit has more than enough power to drive the speakers. A great unit.

I needed to replace an older Sony amplifier. I was looking for a simple, 2 channel unit with a grounded phono input. This for the bill beautifully. The sound is crisp and clean. Plenty of auxiliary inputs, plus a bonus to connect portable devices through a mini plug. Bluetooth connectivity was a nice extra as well. Only drawback is that it could use a bit better tonal controls. It had the typical bass and treble. Could use a mid or benefit from being through an equalizer. But, for a solid good-sounding unit, it's hard to beat the value at this price point.

Hi ChaTao, Thank you for upgrading to your new STRDH190 receiver! We're thrilled you appreciate the crisp and clean sound quality, multiple audio inputs, easy Bluetooth pairing, and great price point of the unit. We appreciate your feedback about the equalizer. Whether you choose to enjoy the warm sound of vinyl via the phono input, or stream music from your digital music collection, you’ve found a perfect match. Don’t forget the receiver’s A=B function lets you connect two pairs of speakers. You can easily switch between A or B or use them all together at the same time. When you factor in the low-profile design, we’re sure you’ve found the flexibility and performance you’ve been looking for! -Sam Sony_US

Having had Sony gear in the past, and not looking for or needing a lot of power or options, this has been a great choice. The bluetooth works well, it has plenty of power to drive my subwoofer / satellite system plus another set of speakers at the other end of the house. My only criticism: the display could be brighter at its max. You can control EVERYTHING with the remote. A sound value for any music listener.

This is my second unit. I have one set up to run my speakers on my deck and this one is for my office. I bought it for three reasons -- Bluetooth, Phono input and price. I wanted to set up my old turntable so Phono input was crucial. The Bluetooth is great too. The unit is on standby until you connect to it via a Bluetooth device, then turns off when you disconnect, so it is great for locating in a hidden location.

Purchased to power a pair of Kicker patio speakers. I was expecting a little bit more kick, however for the price it’s great. I used to have a counter top Sony that really made the kickers pound, but this gets the job done. Bluetooth connects with much ease and provides good length when out back. It does tend to skip, like a CD if we all remember. But not enough to complain. A little on the larger side but as expected.

The best feature is the collection of multiple stereo input jacks, including one that matches the impedance of my 1970's era phonograph turntable. Other standard inputs support my CD player, DVD/VHS combo recorder (which I also use to "forward" stereo sound from my cable TV box to my 1970's era speaker columns when watching movies). The remote control allows me to control volume or change inputs from my seat. The bluetooth channel is a nice extra that lets my stream my MP3 collection stored on my cellphone into those speaker columns. The FM tuner is less used these days, but still nice to have to listen to the local high-school run alternate/classic rock station.

This is probably the best stereo receiver you can buy below 400. Has phono input, and a/b for easy addition of subwoofer into b. Bluetooth connectivity is easy, FM receiver is excellent. Sound is flawless - no distortion even when cranked.

Over all I have been very happy with this purchase. I wanted a receiver for my turntable that gets used sparingly. While my son wanted something with bluetooth. This works for both of us quite well and did not break the bank. I would highly recommend this for someone that wants to combine the new with the old, without having to spend a lot of money, and at the same time getting a product of good quality.

I rate this based on value to performance. However, I will say that this is more enjoyable to listen to than some more expensive receivers. I've returned receivers costing almost five times as much because the Sony can be more fun to listen to. It has a really good phono stage, which is what I primarily use the Sony for. The sound is transparent and you clearly hear all instruments. Don't listen to audiophile reviews. I did and I wasted so much money until I stumbled across this gem. If you like music with tons of bass, you may not want to purchase this product. It is meant for music that contains a lot of instrumentation, such as rock, country, jazz, etc.. This receiver presents the treble, midrange and bass very balanced. This is a very good thing, but some folks may like more punch, so they may want a different receiver. Keep in mind that sound reproduction is a compromise, so if you want more bass, you may miss out on other musical details.

It does all the thing I need it to do. What I really needed was a receiver that has a phono input for my vintage turntable, but I also wanted Bluetooth. This Sony unit does both at a reasonable price, and with respectable specifications. I am having my reel-to-reel tape deck overhauled, and will soon have it connected.

So far (1 month) this purchase has worked out very well. It was easy to connect, the only difficulty being that you have to find out the resistance of your speakers, and set the receiver appropriately. It is nice that this has a phono input. I have not hooked this up yet, so can't comment on the quality of this. Sound quality from my TV, and on the CD player is good. I only briefly tried the FM tuner. I was disappointed with this. White noise on some stations that I previously was able to pick up quite clearly, It seems to be down to the provided antenna, and there doesn't seem to be a choice on the back of the machine for alternative antenna types, so you are stuck with a single wire type. Maybe a longer antenna wire will help? I'm deducting a star for this at this point, because, whereas I'm not big on listening to radio, some people will be, and this is a weakness. If I find a fix I'll update my review. The remote controller is intuitive and very functional - no issues here. Overall, for the price, this a great value

Hi ColinJ, Congratulations on your new Sony STRDH190! We're glad you like the easy speaker installation, phono input, great sound quality, intuitive and function remote control, and great value of your new Sony receiver. And we're sorry to hear about the FM tuner issue you're having.
You can't connect an external FM antenna to your receiver, but you can improve the FM reception.

Adjust the position of the supplied FM wire antenna (aerial) to a place where the reception condition is good.
Place the antenna near a window.
Position the antenna as horizontally as possible.

      Hope this helps!

Vs Nobusound Mini, pretty good investment

I was looking for a nobusound when I was recommended this as an alternative, obviously much pricier. The Bluetooth functionality is excellent, especially since it is an older piece. It will display the name of the connected device without programming, and it turns on when connected for music, so you can start it from the device. There are many other features that didn't review well with others, and I may also run into those challenging, but for my purposes - connecting to a speaker via speaker wire then to Bluetooth this was a great choice with lots more potential uses. I love that nobusound mini, but this is a good receiver.

Sony has delivered just what the doctor ordered. This was for a music classroom. Just two channel stereo. Clean sound, plenty of power. I love that the remote has a volume button. Those are hard to come by, but extremely useful. And the Bluetooth feature will come in very handy for music options on the fly.

Needed a simple but flexible receiver for a simple sound system in the house. Have a turntable and this was just about the only receiver/amp that had a phono input. The records sound great. Plugged in a small CD player into one of the inputs and it sounded great. Then the Bluetooth synced no problem to the iPhone and plays music just great. Remote control works just fine. Never have to touch the receiver.

This serves the purpose I needed it for: to run my ceiling speakers. It was easy to set up, and the sound quality and ease of use is great. Turn it on, connect to Bluetooth, and boom: off to the races. The only problem I have, and what’s preventing a five star review, is that it is way bigger than I though. So big, in fact, that it won’t fit in my media center. Right now it’s living on the floor next to everything until I figure out what to do.
