It's an extremely thin and short length of rubber or plastic coated wire that snaps into the back of the unit with what kind of looks like a miniature phone jack. The reception is fair, but, it seems it is prioritized, because from what I can tell, there is no way of connecting a better, or exterior antenna, and that would help a lot. I don't understand why Sony would think that was a good design.

Posted .Hi kp135, thank you for purchasing the Sony STRDH190! You can't connect an external FM antenna to your A/V receiver, but you can improve the FM reception.
Adjust the position of the supplied FM wire antenna (aerial) to a place where the reception condition is good.
Place the antenna near a window.
Position the antenna as horizontally as possible.

Giving you inputs for a traditional record player while at the same time allows you to connect with your phone music app using blue tooth. No, it doesn't have a sub woofer output but then again its not a surround sound system. Its purely the ideal choice for the music lover who can think back to the days of turning on your favorite tunes on your stereo rather than using your tv. ;)
