Awful Bluetooth connectivity, fine otherwise

Easy controls and intuitive remote. The Bluetooth connectivity is awful though. Whether it's connected via bluetooth to my laptop or Android phone, there is a quick but loud static pulse between almost every song, or else a series of R2D2-like tones. I've tried resetting the bluetooth connections, but it hasn't helped. I'll be sending it in for repairs, but it came out of the box like this.

You might hear severe humming or noise when there are obstructions between the receiver and your BLUETOOTH device, remove them or move the receiver and/or device avoid them.
• If there is a device that generates electromagnetic radiation, such as a wireless LAN, other BLUETOOTH device, or a microwave oven nearby, move it away.
• Turn down the volume of the connected BLUETOOTH device.

Easy to use but muddy sound quality

Sadly I was greatly disappointed. The sound quality is not even in the same ballpark, to the point that when I get over my frustration at wasting money at this one I'll be replacing it. I guess that despite today's electronics advances you still get what you pay for in terms of sound qualilty.

Posted .Hi Greg, Thank you for the feedback on your experience with your STRDH190 receiver. This is usually not the case for our home receiver nor the experience we want you to have. To ensure you're getting optimal audio performance with this unit, please try to follow the steps below:
Make sure the VOLUME or MASTER VOLUME knob of your AV Receiver is not set to VOL MIN.
Make sure headphones aren't connected to your receiver or input device.
Press the SPEAKERS button on your receiver and select a setting other than OFF SPEAKERS.
Try switching to a different input source.

No sound shaping and lacks power

It lacks the ability st shape the sound the way you like to listen to music. A very basic unit and also lacks power so I find I have to have the volume turned up father than you would expect.

We sincerely regret that you are having an issue with your STR-DH190 within a month of use. This is definitely not the experience we wanted you to have. If you haven't yet, please follow these steps if no sound or only a very low level of sound is heard from specific speakers.
• Check that the speakers and device are connected correctly and securely.
• Connect a pair of headphones to the PHONES jack to verify that sound is output from the headphones. If only one channel is output from the headphones, the device may not be connected to the receiver correctly. Check that all of the cables are fully inserted into the jacks on both the receiver and the device. If both channels are output from the headphones, the speaker may not be connected to the receiver correctly. Check the connection of the speaker that is not outputting any sound.
• Make sure you have connected to both the L and R jacks of an analog device, as analog devices require both L and R jack connections. Use a stereo audio cable (not supplied).

And you don’t get very many speaker outputs but other than that I have not had many problems with this

Horrible sound quality using phono input!

I purchased this specifically so that I could play my phono on bigger speakers instead of a bluetooth speaker. Sound is VERY distorted when record is playing but if you switch receiver to FM it is clear as a bell. Phono is brand new and plays fine with my old system so it's not the needle, its this receiver.

Sony 2.0 Ch Stereo Receiver

However, this unit had a problem out of the box. The Left Channel speaker output on Speakers A did not work. Returned this unit. Ended up ordering the Yamaha online from BestBuy. I think this was a one time issue. Maybe Sony needs to work on their quality control process.
