Much preferred to my Onkyo TX-8020. Sadly, neither have an actual tape loop to patch in eq or room correction or a tape deck.

The current line of Sony receivers do not have a tape monitor loop. For this reason, it is not possible to connect an add-on equalizer to current Sony AV receivers. And most Sony receivers feature a built in Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Equalizer. The addition of an equalizer is not needed, and would provide no additional benefit to the overall sound output of the receiver. Great item, just took longer than promised

Have it paired with so mid range speakers and the sound is OK, I'm sure it can drive better speakers. BT is good but it connects and turns on as soon as it detects a device which is a little annoying. All in all a solid receiver for the money.

We are sorry if the Bluetooth function of this receiver did not meet your expectations. As part of the normal operation, the receiver connects to the last connected BLUETOOTH device. The BLUETOOTH connection will be disconnected when you perform either of the following operations:
• Switch the input.
• Turn off the BLUETOOTH function on the BLUETOOTH device.
• Press BLUETOOTH PAIRING.
• Turn off the receiver or the BLUETOOTH device.
• Press BLUETOOTH on the receiver again.

No all situations need surround sound but this does allow you to attach 4 speakers. You can turn on the unit simply by attaching via bluetooth which is a great option for locations the remote does not reach.
