Good for a turntable

Price was outstanding plus it had jacks specific for phono. Bonus moment was Bluetooth for my phone. Downside is that it takes narrower gauge wire plus connections are plastic pushbutton.

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great piece of audio equipment for the price. now in my 50s I just needed something I could Bluetooth pandora at a moderate volume level compared to 25 years ago as well as improve the quality of sound while watching the game or anything else on the Sony 75". We do have a surround system set up in the media room with a Sony 5.1 which is a completely different beast... if you're wanting theatre-style surround sound with your entertainment system then you will need to spend a bit more cash.. but for the money, the 2.0 is a great find in the right setup.

Now have 4 yamaha 150w passive speakers setup outside, with the reciever inside. The reciever has the ability to play to either pair of speakers or to all 4 at once. We don't even have to raise it more than half volume for it to be more than loud enough for the entire backyard. Bluetooth connection does not reach that far, however we use an alexa connected via aux as the main input.

Subwoofer Capable but No Volume Control

I don't know why the Sony experts and other customers keep saying that you cannot connect a subwoofer to the STR-DH190 which is not true. In the "Input 4" is a "Line Out" which serves as that function. The only problem is that you can't control the volume. I have a Mac mini 2014 connected to the STR-DH190 which is connected to "Klipsch - Reference Series 5-1/4" 340-Watt Passive 2-Way Bookshelf Speakers" and in the Line Out I'm connected to a "Klipsch K-100SW 10-Inch Powered Subwoofer" and everything works fine. You don't need to buy the STRDH590 for a hundred more. It just depends how serious you are and what's your budget.

Low price, balanced sound

It’s the best low price you can get for this type of stereo receiver. The sound is balanced and not colored. However, tone control is built in the receiver using remote control as “bass, treble”. It’s not a 5 star “to me” because it was not made with banana plugs for speakers and remote control for everything else. The ideal stereo receiver should have more input like Optical, Coaxial, subwoofer but that’s for more expensive system like Denon PMA-600NE $450. Overall, great deal if you buy this with open box item with lower price, balanced sound stereo with Sony Hi-Res label on it.
