If you're still trying to decide between this one, or the Yamaha or Insignia receiver, just stop. This is the one. I needed this receiver to power a pair of 100 watt Sony bookshelf speakers I have in my listening room. I also needed a receiver with a Phono input for my record player, Bluetooth, and an Aux port. This receiver MORE than met the challenge. It also has A and B speaker channels, but I'll likely never use that function. In short, this receiver rocks. Great purchase all around.

Hi Axela05, Thank you for this amazing review! We're glad it works perfectly with your Sony bookshelf speakers. Good to know you appreciate the inclusion of phono input, Bluetooth function, and AUX input. Whether you choose to enjoy the warm sound of vinyl via the phono input, or stream music from your digital music collection, you’ve found a perfect match. Don’t forget the receiver’s A=B function lets you connect two pairs of speakers. You can easily switch between A or B or use them all together at the same time. When you factor in the low-profile design, we’re sure you’ve found the flexibility and performance you’ve been looking for! -Sam Sony_US

First, it's a Sony. Sony has been around a long time and have produced reputable products and this unit is no exception. It has enough bells and whistles to keep you happy like bluetooth, turntable input and a few others. It will accept 4ohm speakers up to 8ohms and a remote control. It's eezy-peezy for someone like me who just wants to hook up his turntable, use my phone to bluetooth my preferred music and enjoy the great sound it produces.

I bought this product based on some features same level of products other brands don´t bring. Phono input is a must when it comes to connecting a turntable and you prefer not to use additional gear. Bluetooth, on the other hand, is also a mist for those who just want to play music at home without the need of standing close to the source of sound. The sound is clear throughout all the frequencies in the spectrum or, at least, at those frequencies my rusty ears still can percieve. I recommend this product.

I'll start by saying I'm not an audiophile. I simply needed a replacement amplifier for my stereo system because my old one from the late 80s finally stopped working. It was a Sony too. I like this receiver because it's simple to use and takes Bluetooth and auxiliary inputs unlike my old receiver. The sound to me is at least as good as my old Sony and the price was really good. I'm just using this to play songs in a family room and not trying to build some super fancy movie screening room. For what I needed this for it's worked very nicely over the last six weeks.

I bought this to replace my 30 year old Yamaha receiver which finally stopped working. Being in my 70's and not hearing as well as I used to, I figured I would give this a try. Well, I am very pleasantly surprised. My wife and I both think this sounds better than the old very expensive Yamaha. Plus we now have built in bluetooth which we paired to our Echo, and now we just say Alexa play Pandora. We use it as a stereo system in our sunroom and back porch and so far this unit far exceeds our expectations at a very reasonable price. Simple to operate and sounds great. We couldn't ask for anything more.

Having had Sony gear in the past, and not looking for or needing a lot of power or options, this has been a great choice. The bluetooth works well, it has plenty of power to drive my subwoofer / satellite system plus another set of speakers at the other end of the house. My only criticism: the display could be brighter at its max. You can control EVERYTHING with the remote. A sound value for any music listener.

The unit worked just as described. Very simple to use, easy to set up and understand. I am using this receiver for both indoor and outdoor speakers, the two separate channels allow for the ability to switch from indoor speakers, outdoor speakers or both playing at the same time. The power of this unit is plenty to crank up the sound. Overall, very happy with the purchase, good value for the money and would recommend to others considering a Bluetooth compatible receiver solution for your home stereo needs.

Excellent value for the money. This receiver is for audiophiles that want to play vinyl records and maybe an occasional CD. Plenty of power to drive your music loud, has the option for two sets of speakers, phono jack, and Bluetooth for the post-vinyl listeners. This receiver does everything my 1970-1980 receiver did at a great price. This is not a home theater receiver. This is a stereo receiver.

I read some negative reviews about this receiver, such as not enough power or they didn't like the front panel... Unfortunately they never say what kind of speakers they use, whether they are properly rated for the amp, what kind of cables they are using and the length of the cable run. ALL of these things affect playback power. I use pro speaker cabling with a maximum run of 10 feet for both cables. The sound is very nice and balanced. I didn't think I'd like the 2 knob controller for volume and input but now I love the simplicity since you can adjust things by hand without looking to see the knobs. Yes you have to use the remote to adjust bass and treble but I almost always leave playback at flat EQ since I'm a professional musician and audio producer working in a fabric treated control room. To the folks who have this receiver in their garages, I'll say you can't expect to get good sounding audio in a garage no matter what you use. Most audio FX boxes and DAWs have a reverb setting known as "Garage." It makes things sound like the speakers are in a, yes, a fricking garage, which is great for punk or grunge, but not much else. Yes, the radio tuner buttons blend into the front panel as does the speaker switch so if you use those buttons a lot you may want to put a small bit of tape on one or all of them or shine more light on the front panel. I don't use them since I don't listen to analog radio and I only have one pair of speakers. For me needs and budget, this Sony is very good. I still have lots of vintage records so the phono input jacks was a factor over the similarly priced Yamaha.

I rate this based on value to performance. However, I will say that this is more enjoyable to listen to than some more expensive receivers. I've returned receivers costing almost five times as much because the Sony can be more fun to listen to. It has a really good phono stage, which is what I primarily use the Sony for. The sound is transparent and you clearly hear all instruments. Don't listen to audiophile reviews. I did and I wasted so much money until I stumbled across this gem. If you like music with tons of bass, you may not want to purchase this product. It is meant for music that contains a lot of instrumentation, such as rock, country, jazz, etc.. This receiver presents the treble, midrange and bass very balanced. This is a very good thing, but some folks may like more punch, so they may want a different receiver. Keep in mind that sound reproduction is a compromise, so if you want more bass, you may miss out on other musical details.

This provided all of our entertainment sound needs. It has options to provide sound for two different set ups, which is what we needed. The price was great. It took a little bit longer to set up, but once we got it set up it was great. It can easily connect to our phones via bluetooth and once connected you can turn it off and on from the phone, which is a plus. The only downside is the tuner isn't the best for FM Radio. There is no antennae, but I think once we get a antennae it will be better. It's not on all the stations though. I would recommend this receiver.

I was looking for a nobusound when I was recommended this as an alternative, obviously much pricier. The Bluetooth functionality is excellent, especially since it is an older piece. It will display the name of the connected device without programming, and it turns on when connected for music, so you can start it from the device. There are many other features that didn't review well with others, and I may also run into those challenging, but for my purposes - connecting to a speaker via speaker wire then to Bluetooth this was a great choice with lots more potential uses. I love that nobusound mini, but this is a good receiver.

For the price this is easily a 5 star purchase. It is used primarily as a turntable amplifier and for Bluetooth streaming for music. Pros: The phono pre amp input sounds great, lows are detailed and prominent which is usually a weakness for built in budget priced amplifiers. It’s also nice that it is adjustable in gain to match other input levels. The Bluetooth pairs as quickly if not faster than any other device I own. The remote is easy to use as are the menus in the receiver, so much so that a quick run down is all that is needed rather than a training session for other more feature packed units. Power is more than adequate for my medium sized room mid level listening. I haven’t needed to get to it’s full capabilities and crank it all the way up to be happy. It LOOKS far more expensive than it cost. Cons: Actual 12 gage speaker wire is a tight fit into the spring jacks. The ground screw for phono isn’t removable forcing me to change the ring connector on my ground wire to a forked connection. No sub out, but any sub that can accept speaker level inputs negates this. Conclusion: Anyone looking to get into or back into vinyl but still wants the convenience of streaming would be happy with this if you’re not hung up on brand or the prestige associated with price tag. Bang for your buck is outstanding.

Purchased to replace a 28 year old Sony receiver that bit the dust. Best Buy not only had it in stock for same day pickup, but also had the best price for it that I could find, either locally or on the internet. The whole process was very easy from purchase, pickup and the set up, all much quicker than I expected. After a month of using, we are very pleased with the sound quality and the performance of the Sony STRDH190. So, all in all, it was a great purchase.
