I finally replaced my old receiver with this one and I got to say I'm not very impressed with the overall sound compared to my old unit. The highs are very weak especially listening to classical music and it's not the speakers, they sounded great with the old receiver. It seems there's not enough control of bass & treble. It's overly complicated for any adjustments. I'm not happy at all.

Posted .Hi Disappointing, thank you for purchasing our product. We're sorry to hear that you have an issue with your SONY unit. You can enjoy higher-fidelity sound from all inputs using the Pure Direct function. When the Pure Direct function is on, the display panel lights off to suppress noise that affects sound quality. (Press PURE DIRECT using the supplied remote). Bass and treble do not work when the Pure Direct function is selected. You can adjust BASS and TREBLE using the supplied remote from –10 dB to +10 dB in 1 dB step.

Couldn't keep up with my speakers

It couldn't keep up with my speakers that were rated at 100W. Maybe the speakers were the issue but this unit couldn't keep up. I guess if you have 100W speakers you should have an AMP that outputs more than 100W. Live and learn.

Thank you for the review and we do apologize for the inconvenience. We recommend connecting wired speakers with a nominal impedance of 6 ohms to 16 ohms. Less than 6 ohms or more than 16 ohms speakers will not work. You might be using the wrong speakers cable for your speakers. We also recommend using speaker wires that are anywhere between 12 to 16 gauge. These are most commonly used for connecting speakers to an amplifier or an AV receiver.
