Plenty of power, quality sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to replace an STR-DH130 which, to be quite frank, was a fine receiver but I wanted to be able to play Bluetooth sources. Appears to have the same amplifier circuitry, which is a good thing, because this classic Sony design sports discrete output transistors and a conventional linear power supply. What this means is plenty of power, and a simple power supply that can support it, which equates to years of reliable sound. What you lose is an AM tuner, and it looks like Sony went the route of using a different tuner module that won't let you tune direct frequencies, you have to "scan" and save them. Not a real deal killer, but an annoyance and the previous model had a fine AM/FM tuner. Why change it Sony? But what you do get is a REAL phono input, and plenty of other analog inputs for all your legacy components. Front panel portable in is a nice touch. The real gem is the Bluetooth capability which sounds awesome, pairs painlessly to all my BT devices, and just plain works. The receiver also looks nice, it's fairly heavy at 15lbs, and says "quality". If you do NOT need surround sound, or HDMI/coax digital, and have a lot invested in analog components (I do), this is the BEST choice on the market. I play this unit through a pair of Polk T-50s and can fill my den with clean full range rich sound. The receiver is the "heart" of any home audio system, and the STR-DH190 is a healthy one.

Simple Simon buys a Sony.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 2nd Sony Receiver. Had the older model, decided to upgrade to a newer one with Bluetooth. Got a great deal on an OpenBox model rated “Excellent”. Came well packaged with everything intact including owners manual and remote. Easy to set everything up once you read the directions carefully. It’s a no frills receiver. Great for those who aren't impressed with all the bells and whistles and just want to listen to CDs/ FM / DVDs with decent sound. It’s great to hear my old school rock via the Bluetooth from my iPad too. Pairing was quick and painless. Its a decent receiver. Never any problems with the Sony brand. Try to get the open box deal if you can. You can’t go wrong.

Posted .Hi SimpleSimon, Great deal! We're also glad that you like the ease of setup and features of your new receiver. Whether you choose to enjoy the warm sound of vinyl via the phono input , or stream music from your digital music collection, you’ve found a perfect match. Don’t forget the receiver’s A=B function lets you connect two pairs of speakers. You can easily switch between A or B or use them all together at the same time. When you factor in the low-profile design, we’re sure you’ve found the flexibility and performance you’ve been looking for! Thank you for choosing Sony! Erin

A Power Packed Device!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My critique of the Sony STRDH190 2 Channel Audio Receiver 6187501 pertains only to the FM Tuner, Phonograph Function, and the Bluetooth Function. The FM Tuner is easy to select a channel for listening. I first did an automatic scan for channels. Channels found can be preset, for automatic tuning at a future time. The Phonograph Function did not work well at all. It could be my speakers or it could be the Sony STRDH190 2 Channel Audio Receiver 6187501, but the sound was distorted and unable to become clear. My turntable has no amplification; it only sends a signal to the Sony STRDH190 2 Channel Audio Receiver 6187501, which could not get the song to sound clear. At the volume level of only three, I could hear the static sound of the record. I tried making adjustments to the Sony STRDH190 2 Channel Audio Receiver 6187501, with the manual instructions without any success. The Bluetooth Function works perfectly and is easy to connect just by pressing a few buttons. The sound is clearly pure stereo phonics. The Bass and Treble levels are adjustable from pressing plus or minus buttons. The one-hundred watts produced by the Sony STRDH190 2 Channel Audio Receiver 6187501 is powerful enough to shake and vibrate the surrounding area. I could not increase the volume to its maximum level due to the fear of disturbing my neighbors. It is a power packed device.

Decent For Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My hifi vintage receiver had to go in for repair and I gave a friend my early 90's Sony receiver I only held onto as a backup. I really needed something brand new that'll get me through 1-2 months until I get my Marantz back. I tried the less expensive Insignia first and thought the bass was basically absent. The Sony sounds overall better. Very simple hookup of components and bluetooth. It's got a sleek look and doesn't weigh much. It's got phono preamp which is a BIG plus. The Insignia did not. If you're looking for a brand new backup receiver or just something priced within the $100-$130 range this would suffice.

Great, simple bluetooth; lacks bass punch.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In the 70's receivers and amplifiers included a "Loudness" button, boosting bass and treble at lower volumes; in the 90's that gave way to "Bass Boost." This receiver has neither ... and needs it. It simply cannot provide enough bottom end, period -- even with the "Bass" control all the way up to the maximum of 10dB (which, curiously, is controllable only by the remote; don't lose it!). Otherwise it sounds brilliant, and the bluetooth is simple and clean. But it needs subwoofers, yet it has not subwoofer output.

Great & Versatile Receiver/Amplifier
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a great purchase! We needed to replace an older Sony DA 30ES receiver/amplifier which was traumatic! After doing a lot of research, we decided that the Sony STR DH190 met all of our requirements. We were able to connect all of our old equipment -- turntable, CD payer and Cassette player. And, the blue tooth allows us to use ae cell phone as well. It is an excellent performer and was a great decision. We are very happy with the purchase.

Nearly perfect product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this receiver mostly because I needed one that would take a phono signal from my turntable. I have it hooked up to two pairs of in-ceiling speakers that were in the house when I moved in. The speakers are nothing special, but the sound is great from this receiver! I can play either pair of speakers or all four at once. I have it hooked up to a CD player and turntable, which both sound great. FM radio also sounds great. I love the "pure direct" feature, which cleans up most of the noise on FM. Last but not least, this thing is aesthetically beautiful, and you can run it with dimmed or black panel, which is nice at night. I can't think of a single negative about this product, including the price, which is reasonable.

Old school simplicity
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Exactly what I wanted! After ordering a competing receiver, from another seller, that was too complicated and more set up for surround sound, we ordered this stereo receiver with simplified speaker connections. Had sound coming out of my all house built in speaker system within 15 minutes! Lots of power and great Bluetooth range.

George's audio
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unless you are an audio nut, this reciever has all the features you need except a balance option. It has nice power, the remote is superb, has a bass and treble controls, has plenty of rca jacks to add on up to 4 audio devices PLUS a turntable. Yes, you can connect 4 speakers. And the price won't set u back. I have a turntable, cd changer, cassette deck and graphic equalizer plugged into this reciever.

NICE TRY BUT FELL SHORT
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow, What happened to Sony? So my old Sony STR-D365 is I know well over 30 years old. Being into car audio all my life and a Sony fan have always loved my music loud, yes even at 50 years old guess you could say grandpa likes to rattle the windows in my home! The New unit was very sleek and stylish, Bluetooth was a great feature and the remote WOW! Set up was super easy however when the power button was pushed I noticed some great highs and mids for the most part sounded really good however the bass was a little flat. I found my favorite Symphonic metal playlist and decided to give my old KLH 15's a work out boy was I mistaken. I have a pair of 8 inch book shelf speakers and they sounded great but this new Sony couldn't push my 15's. I even raised the volume up to 50, my old unit I never went over 3 as stuff was vibrating off the shelves, which compared would possibly be 30 on the new scale so even at more volume the sound could not compare. So the 30 year old Sony will go back in its place to vibrate my chest when the bass hits and well the New Sony will be back in the box and returned. Sony really good try, if you can tweak the bass frequencies to handle woofers larger than a 10 inch woofer you will have a award winning piece because the mids and highs were amazing, its the bass that fell short or maybe my standards are too high as music is my escape.
