Posted .Hi Rudyhannock, Great! Good to know you that this is what you've been looking for in a stereo receiver. We also appreciate your feedback about the power output of the unit. Make sure the volume is not set to “VOL MIN”. Please try to press the VOLUME + button all the way up to see if there will be difference with the sound. Check that all connecting cables are inserted to their input/output jacks on the receiver, speakers and the devices. Make sure you have connected to both the L and R jacks of an analog device, as analog devices require both L and R jack connections. Use a stereo audio cable (not supplied). No bass at all. I have even went and got better speakers still nothing. Can not tell any difference with bass up or down. I am trying to replace a very old sony receiver that sounds amazing. I can not believe Sony made such a crap product. Look for something better unless you like everything to sound mono tone then that case this is totally for you.

I have to guess at all of my settings because the entire display is down. This was a new, sealed item and NOT an "open box" item so the quality appears to be very low.

It did not fix the problem as described. There has been no contact from Sony about this failure, no reply of any kind. They seem to be completely ignoring a glaring defect in one of their products, or an extreme exaggeration of product specifications. Based on this experience, SonyListens does not care about consumers of their products.

Told $125 for repair company to just check plus cost of repair. Thought Sony made better product and would stand behind it.

Poor sound quality

As soon as I turned it on I knew that I had a problem. I adjusted the bass and treble to max. The volume and quality is NO where close to what I was used to. I wonder if the have changed the watt rating system. I also wonder if I am doing something wrong. It is such a hassle to return something.
