Just right for what I need

I wanted something more-or-less old-school to connect my even ancient passive bookshelf speakers, turntable, and have FM radio. The STRDH190 has all that I need and then some. Easy setup, decent power, nice remote with FM presets. Built in preamp for turntable removed the annoying hum I used to get. I paired the Bluetooth to my phone just to be sure it works, although I rarely use this feature. A couple complaints that kept me from giving it 5 stars: The first unit I got was DOA. It would power on and shut down a few seconds later. This has been reported in other reviews and I would have hoped that Sony would have better quality control to test these before sending them out to stores. Easy exchange at BB and the replacement has been working fine. The FM antenna is a simple wire w/ a proprietary plug. Doesn't seem to be any way to hook up a dipole or something better. In summary, other than the inconvenience of exchanging a non-functional unit, this Sony is a good amp for the price, especially if you only need the basics.

We're sorry to hear that your previous Sony receiver had power issues, but good to know you were able to have it replaced easily.
We have noted your input about the FM antenna input and will be sure to forward this feedback to the appropriate department.
Although you can't connect an external FM antenna to your receiver, you can improve the FM reception.
Adjust the position of the supplied FM wire antenna (aerial) to a place where the reception condition is good.
Place the antenna near a window.
Position the antenna as horizontally as possible.

Does the job. Doesn’t have any dedicated sub outputs, but as long as your sub has speaker level inputs then you’re good to go. My receiver is connected to two Polk 50 tower speakers and a Sony SA-CS9 sub. Music sounds awesome. If you need a basic receiver to hook up a record player and/or CD player , this is the way to go.

I was using a older receiver that had many settings that had to be adjusted each time I turned it on. This unit is exactly what I wanted. It hooks up to my iPad and/or my phone and plays all my favorite songs.

No More!! I am the bluetooth DJ! I can pair all of my devices to the amp. My Apple TV, watch, phone, iPad! It soundS so crystal clear and I prefer wired speakers to wireless. Very pleased with my purchase.

She needed an upgrade from her kenwood she bought in 2000. It’s safe to say she love it the Bluetooth feature works great with one button to pair. Good price great quality would recommend to a young friend my age honestly.

The young man I worked with gave me advice and choices on how to improve the operation of my laptop. I asked if maybe I should purchase a new computer. He said no, instead let me install a new hard drive. I picked up the following day and runs like new.

I got a few beers in me so I wouldn't be overly concerned with the price and my wife drove us to Best Buy. A guy named Marshall helped us and he was great. This is the perfect receiver for what we need. I was very impressed with the customer service and the price so we got speakers too.... I think his name was Marshall. This was a couple months ago. He was a young black guy at the San Bernadino Best Buy.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I connected the Sony receiver to four speakers. : - SONY SS-U542AV (x 2) - FISHER ST-515 (x 2)) 'On Paper' all indications were that I would need to buy an amplifier to power these speakers. I decided to wait and see how the system works before purchasing an amp. I'm glad I did. I use the receiver for radio and I have it hooked up to a turntable for my vinyl record collection. Even without an amp, the system functions exceptionally well. Crystal clear sound quality and volume that will rattle items off of shelves ... in the neighbors house.

They have 12 inch woofers with separate mid and tweeters. To my delight playing at higher volumes it didn't even break a sweat as the unit was only slightly warm. Bluetooth paired instantly to my phone and tablet for unlimited online listening pleasure. The FM sounds good with great reception. I also liked the ability to switch to a second set of speakers for my outdoor deck. Don't hesitate to buy this because it's Sony quality at a bargain price!
