I currently use it with a PC that has a Bluetooth connection. I turn on the PC and it automatically turns on this unit and allows me to stream the music directly from my PC through to the speakers. Sound is fairly clean and I’m happy with the purchase. I really didn’t expect it to work as good as it does for the price.

Great budget 2 Channel receiver

I was blown away with the quality of sound the Sony delivers. This receiver is a steal for the price range. I am thrilled with my purchase, I am actually going to buy a second one for my phono. Including built in FM radio, it has inputs for phono, bluetooth, 4 inputs (cd, tape, etc). Power is rated at 100 watts which is very sufficient for my small Klipsch speakers, which sounds very good. A minor drawback is there is no AM radio, but it was no deal breaker here. Overall, I am very pleased with it

The remote that comes with it is simple to read it and easy to use the sound and the power is plenty for me, and I like to crank it up and it will handle really nice speakers with enough of base so I make sure really good products to last

Just what I needed

Yes, there are higher end choices out there, but this fit my needs perfectly. I needed it for a medium sized room to hook up my turntable and CD player. Added some small speakers and it produces! I don’t need the blue tooth capability, so I can’t speak to that. But seems simple enough if I ever do. Lots of inputs if I ever need them. The remote is a plus too.

It's easy to hookup and has a powerful amplifier. It has a built in am/m tuner and comes with its own antenna. It has phono input to hook up our own record player, which is hard to find these days. Sounds real good with no distortion on our 12" 3-way speakers. Very Happy with the purchase!

A great amp at a budget price

I'm an old guy with vinyl and a turntable I bought in 1979. It's a direct drive (not belted) ultra quiet, counterbalanced beauty that needs a decent amp to run it. Being an old guy with no sense, I discarded my Marantz system (also bought in 1980) and discovered I had no way to play my vinyl. I don't even let my wife touch the records, so there was no way I', buying a cheapo "record player." This seemed like a suitable alternative. It does not disappoint. Now if only I hadn't tossed the Marantz speakers....

I loved the looks and the Bluetooth connectivity was also excellent. I never lost connection. I also appreciated the phono input. Super easy to use. The sound is just okay. It does have clear sound but the lows are non existent and there is no sub out connection. Technically you can find a sub that would be compatible but overall this is a low end receiver that will be well served by someone that appreciates its design over its sound. The sound isn’t bad, but for an extra $100 you would still be in budget receiver category and could get better sound. I ended up returning this and replacing it with an older Denon that absolutely blows it out do the park. For the price, you can’t expect much more. If you want above average sound, you will have to set your sights elsewhere.

Replacement for existing component system

Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This Sony receiver was a replacement for a 53 year old Sansui 400 with similar specifications, so it would need to fit in with the other components in the existing system. Pro: 1. The instructions gave all of the information needed to set it up (and work properly with the other components). 2. It has sufficient inputs for all of the devices I am using. 3. The remote control was sufficiently functional to be very useful. 4. The sound quality is good. Con: 1. Although the FM works fairly well in a weak signal area with the supplied single wire antenna, it would have been helpful to have also had a 300 ohm and/or 75 ohm external antenna connection. 2. No AM tuner, although this is a minor issue. There are several other Sony components in my system. They have worked well, so I had confidence in purchasing this one too. It is a good "drop in" replacement.

We appreciate your feedback about the FM radio. You can't connect an external FM antenna to your A/V receiver, but you can improve the FM reception.
Adjust the position of the supplied FM wire antenna (aerial) to a place where the reception condition is good.
Place the antenna near a window.
Position the antenna as horizontally as possible.

If you need a receiver with Phono in - here you go, this is the one to buy. There are some other brands that are better, but they are a lot farther up the price scale. For a simple turntable and speaker system, this works so nice. It is clean and classic looking. Those other receivers might sound a little bit better - but this one gets the job done.

Great receiver for all applications

One of the best features is having Bluetooth technology, which is great for people having the newer iPhone's (as they don't have a headphone jack any longer). I have also hooked up my old record player which sounds amazing coming through this. Naturally this will depend on your speaker setup as well, but worth the money!

I have it set up with two channels in my office with a Chromecast audio and RCA cable from my CRT for retro games. Looks great and sounds good. I just wish it at least took banana plugs or had some audio calibration
