Solid receiver/amp. Clean smooth sound. Perhaps a little dry, but that is better than adding "color". Plenty of power, lots of inputs. Only possible con is you need to use the remote to fully control the unit. Can't beat the price.

Purchased this unit in order to have Bluetooth capabilities. I have of vinyl, cds, and thousands of digital. I needed one unit which could handle turntable, cd changer, and digital. This unit worked well with my wired speakers ( I only use Bluetooth speakers when I don’t care what my music sounds like) and that would be never. So if you like your music clear and clean with full bodied sound this unit works well. If you listen through Bluetooth speakers then what does it matter. There is enough power to shake the house if needed. I’m using it for music only in my painting studio and it does just fine. Great speakers make the difference and this Sony has plenty of power to push out the sound as it was made to be heard. I am still learning more of its capabilities. My old Sony receive was 10 years old and is now out in the workshop. Still works fine.

Great receiver for this prices point and very user friendly. I hooked this up to my older JBL 12 inch speakers and placed them on my garage for audio while I use my home gym. I didn’t want to break the bank because it’s in a garage. But this receiver is blasting my neighbors out lol I love opening the garage and making the whole neighborhood hear it! The Bluetooth is perfect it connects with no issues and reconnects after the power is turned off then I turn it on again for the next use. The radio works perfect with the supplied antenna no static at all on AM or FM. The remote has all functions it fast forwards the tracks and songs fast and perfectly. I would say for 200 bucks this is a great choice for inside the house or a garage or backyard application. Another great product form Sony!

Wanted a basic receiver that I felt was a good balance between power and price. Only needed 2 channels, but liked the addition of Bluetooth. In reference to the bluetooth, I like that once I've connected it with my phone, all I have to do is find it on the bluetooth list in the future and I can start streaming music.

I had a similar Sony Receiver for years but wanted to connect an older turntable to play my large album collection. I also wanted to be able to connect into my Sonos speaker system. This Sony comes with a phono input so it provides the amplifier needed to play the turntable which my older Sony did not. This receiver worked as expected for all my components- turntable and CD player. Only issue I had with Sonos was the phono amp did not have enough power to use the Sonos speakers although it worked great with the wired speakers on the Receiver. I had to add a small pre-amp in between the phono input and Sonos Connect to actually boost amps into Sonos to hear the turntable and it seemed to have done the trick.

Ii bought this receiver for my garage. I have a pair of older Sound Dynamic shelf speakers that it runs very nicely. It works great for what I need and want. I'm sure it would be great for running larger speakers as well. The bluetooth connected to my Samsung S7 quickly and easily. The remote is easy to understand as well. It's very nice having a simple button to push for easy bass and treble adjustment and not having to go through menus. The knobs are very solid on the unit. I have always been turned off when the knobs feel loose. It gives them a cheap feel. Not with this unit. They are very firm. The receiver is also quite heavy. I'm not a technology guy or have any real detailed data to back this up, but it being heavy tells me there's actually real components in there! LOL. It's a great buy and worth every penny.

The sound quality is very good for a receiver at this price point. It's purely analog; no digital inputs or outputs on this thing, but that's what DACs are for. Nice phono stage and an FM tuner. Probably the reason for the less than perfect rating is the lack being able to precisely manually tune to your stations. Instead I have to rely on auto scanning to lock on. It doesn't always do that.
