    Humming. lots and lots of humming. Humming was from the actual unit, not from the speakers. Think I got myself a lemon.

    Excellent A/V Receiver for 5.2 surround sound

    This receiver seems to generate less heat in my A/V cabinet than my earlier model and delivers excellent pass-through of all devices, including bluetooth from my iPhone.

      We're sorry to hear if the Bluetooth is not working. Power reset the unit, simply unplug the unit and wait 1-2 minutes then plug the device back in and power on If power reset doesn't work, you can reset the sound fields to the default settings to isolate the issue.

    worked fine for 1.2 years then protected mode appeared and will not go away. i will never buy sony junk again.

    Came dente brand new out of the box. I don’t blame Bestbuy but Sony. Luckily it works perfectly fine. I just have to be reminded every time that Sony shipped the item dented.

      Hi conepa, Thank you for the feedback on your experience with your STRDH590 receiver. We regret to hear you jad some noise-related issues with the unit and it had to be returned. This is usually not the case for our receivers nor the experience we want you to have.

      If the unit is not responding, we recommend performing a factory reset. To reset the unit,

      Turn off the receiver.
      Hold down (power) on the receiver for 5 seconds.
      “CLEARING” flashes on the display panel for a while, then changes to “CLEARED *”.

      And, for speaker noise, it could be that the speaker wires are not properly connected to the speaker port. Also, when connecting speakers, make sure that the speakers are within the impedance rating of 6-16 ohms.

    This model lacked power for me. Also, two of the HDMI inputs didn't work out of the box. The price is entry level, but I was still disappointed.

    Yamaha worked when Sony failed

    This was the second one ordered. The first was returned because Netflix , PBS along with some Amazon Prime programs did not have audio. The second one had the same problem. After speaking with the Geek Squad it was suggested to switch brands. I subsequently order a Yamaha which was cheaper and functioned perfectly.

    I thought the cable was going out. I thought the flat screen TV was bad. Nope. This device, which also routes video from multiple devices (cable, 4K DVD player, games...) to your TV, started cutting out and wouldn't stop. Changed all HDMI cables. Same problem. Every other device still works fine. Only had it 2 months. The Bestbuy site also says I cannot return it. Never thought I'd write a Sony product a bad review, but this one is junk.

    Some stations comes in very low. Apps like Netflix and Amazon prime movies will play although you can't here what they are saying.

    This is the second time I have bought this receiver as an open box item, both times Bestbuy has stated it is in excellent condition with nothing missing. When the receiver arrived, there are no accessories, manuals, or remote.
