I really this receiver - it is easy to set-up and has lots of input/output options. Remote has just the right amount of buttons (no overkill on buttons I have no idea what they do). I give it only 4 stars because the only way to adjust the bass/treble output manually is by hooking the receiver up to the the tv via hdmi cable which is just annoying and cumbersome to change and really unnecessarily takes up an HDMI input on the tv.

I figured that this was just going to be another run of the mill receiver to replace a unit that finally died after years of use, but I was pleasantly surprised by the features that it had. It automatically connected to my TV (which is a slightly older model Aquos) and makes switching from one input to another easy without having to change both the TV and the receiver.

I had to change the receiver from sony to Yamaha. Brad, the installer from Best Buy, said that the wire configuration was not meant for the Sony model. He was right and I ordered the Yamaha and it was perfect. Brad did a great job explaining the different setup and after using it I realize that the cord cutting and getting rid of all the other devices and adding Roku was the right thing to do. Thanks,Brad

Very nice 5.2 receiver. very easy to set up and use. the sound quality is awesome and handshakes very nicely with my sony tv. I was looking for something simple and not too complicated like the pioneer i used to have and this is a great option. I had some issues with the video and audio not syncing properly which is mostly fixed by switching the tv to game mode.

good for the price - does the job, had to use it for my ceiling-inbuilt speakers and it makes them work just fine, distributes the sound well between the front and rear speakers. has some nice hall/stadium/jazz settings for different output. Makes a weird and loud click sound when it's turned on but it's okay I guess. would recommend to others who are looking at making a basic set of speakers work

Was purchased as an inexpensive upgrade to an older Onkyo receiver with no HDMI ports. Does the job nicely. My wife loves that the receiver will turn on automatically when playing music from her phone via Bluetooth. Bonus... have been able to better sync audio between receiver and tv. Not a big fan of the remote... volume button doesn't always react. However as I use other universal remotes, its not an issue for me.

Solid buy if its on sale. I got it open box and saved a little more. Set it up in a spare media room and didn’t need all the bells and whistles, just 5.1 surround sound. Fit the bill nicely and works as expected. Easy room calibration and enough hdmi ports.

This is as basic as it gets for a 5 channel 1 zone until. Struggles to handle any speaker wire thicker than the least expensive option, but overall the unit works well and has features you would expect a receiver to have in 2025.. The remote is basic, but fine. You get what you pay for with this receiver.

If you want to build a home theater system on a budget, this fits the bill. Just don't expect too much. For example, it comes with a microphone for automatic calibration just like more expensive receivers, but this one incorrectly identified my center channel and fear soakers as "large" even though they obviously can't produce low frequencies. The automatic calibration in general was kind of buggy and finicky, unlike the auto calibration on Yamaha receivers. It lacks any network connectivity, which only really matters for firmware update and streaming internet radio. You probably won't need the former, and the latter is becoming obsolete. Most people interested in listening to music over the internet would probably just install Spotify on their smart TV anyway. I have not tried this with an Audio Return Channel yet, but it works fine both as a bluetooth receiver (for much better sounds quality than you're likely to get from a self-container Bluetooth speaker) and it functions well at 5.1 sound for a basic home theater. If you agree trying to build a component home theater system on a budget, this is a decent centerpiece for your home theater. On the other hand, if you're willing to spend the money on a component home theater system instead of a sound bar, you may want to consider some of the more feature-rich receivers that are around $100 more expensive.
