Awesome stereo - works flawlessly with my Sony 55"

Unfortunately, the new TV didn't work well with the ARC system of my older Sony receiver, so I upgraded the receiver as well. I know you might be thinking, this is getting expensive... well Sony, much like a Toyota holds their value well. I was able to sell my old unit and buy this one for just $20 during the holidays. Of course, I keep my equipment in great condition and had the original box and manuals - all important.

Mixed feelings on this one...

Had issues with screen going black when kids playing video games or sometimes when watching movies. Swapped out high speed HDMI cables, switched inputs, etc. Disabled dynamic range and tried just about everything. Thought it was the TV, then the PS5, but roku always seemed to work just fine...until that had issues also. I have been using Yahama and Onkyo for the past 2 decades, but decided to go back to Sony. Wish I had stayed with other brands.

Output is fine ... annoying issue on startup

However, I cannot believe that I did not see called out in the reviews I checked before purchase the issue with the receiving requiring you to select the desired input each time it starts. So if you primarily use the receiver with your TV, you will need to use the Sony AV remote to select the input each time you turn the TV on. You can search for this on the sony forums and find the users reporting the same concern. Sony basically advises this is expected functionality and apparently it works better with a Sony TV. So beware of you are looking to pair this receiver with a non -Sony TV. I asked a question about this functionality in this best buy Q/A section a while back and one person suggested buying a $100 all in one remote and program it. You decide how much sense that makes, especially if you primarily use an X1 remote. I posted in the Sony forum a request for an updated firmware to resolve this issue. I will revisit this review if Sony looks to address this concern. awesome receiver

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.once i received it, it sat for a few days until i was ready to reinstall all my components on my av entertainment center, once i got everything connected, worked awesome. i could connect most everything to it or use it to the most for what i bought it for. the only issue i had is 1 component doesnt work with it, but i think it has something to do with the tv i have, which im sorry to say dont match my sony home theater layout, but i plan to fix, soon! other than the 1 component, everything else is awesome, including my 8-in-1 sony remote that i was able to instantly use as soon i programmed it!

Its got great reviews but we returned it and bought the Sony 7.2 version for future flexibility.
