solid reciever

But it does a good job as a 5.1 home theater receiver that supports 4K. I picked it up on sale for $179 which I thought was a fantastic deal. My old Yamaha receiver is huge compared to this and I appreciate the smaller footprint of this device. I like the simple old school sleekness of it too. Pairs well with my Sony 950g and Sony 4k blu ray player.

This item went on sale a few days after my purchase. I was able to use the BBY app and text message customer service to be a price match which saved me from waiting on the phone.

Works Well But Read The Manual

And if you want to enable HDR pass through you have to go through a submenu that is impossible to find unless you read the fine print in the manual. I got lucky and found it. You have to switch the hdmi input from standard to enhanced for each input. It would be nice if it was either easier to find and only needed to be done once, or if HDR capability was detected and enabled automatically.

When it Works it's Great

My only complaint is the ARC functionality between my Vizio TV and this receiver. Sometimes when I turn the TV on, everything is synced up, receiver comes on by itself and I can use the Vizio TV remote (not universal) to control the volume (up & down) through the TV adjusting the volume on the receiver. Other times when I turn on the TV the receiver will still come on but the sound will not work nor can I control the volume of the receiver through the TV with the TV remote. When this happens I usually have to turn on and off the receiver with the Sony remote (not the TV) 2-3 times then the volume works but still cannot be controlled with the TV remote. Unfortunately I never purchased a warranty and this slight inconvenience isn't enough for me to purchase something else. Again not sure if it's the TV or this receiver but assuming it's the receiver. Tried following videos online of TV and receiver settings and still doesn't always work.

We regret to hear you're having some sound issues after turning on your TV and Receiver. We would like to look into this so we can resolve your issues. Disconnect any third-party external devices like cable boxes, satellite receivers, or gaming consoles and perform the troubleshooting steps just with the audio system connected to the TV. Third-party devices may cause the Control for HDMI or BRAVIA Sync function of the TV and the audio device to stop working.
Check the type and connection of the HDMI cable that is connected to the receiver and the TV. If the TV is compatible with the Audio Return Channel (ARC) function, make sure the Control for HDMI function on the TV is turned on.
