We do apologize for the inconvenience. You can turn on the HDMI CEC function of your TV so you can control the AV receiver using one remote. This device is expensive enough and powerful enough to directly power a subwoofer. Why must I buy a whole, separately powered subwoofer. I can see offering it as an option, but I should also have the option of simply running a subwoofer directly from this receiver. As a result of this gripe, I returned it and bought a conventional home theater system.

If you have Dolby Vision or HDR10, it won’t work with this receiver. The UI interface is too basic and it’s difficult to find advanced settings to troubleshoot any issues. I emailed Sony support and they gave me a half baked answer with a guide on how to do it with another receiver (not mine). I’m probably going to return this.
