I like to listen to local FM radio. Unfortunately, the this receiver’s tuner reception is horrible. Must be where they elected to take cost out of it. And there is no AM. I expected better from Sony!

Thank you for telling us about your experience with your STR-DH590. Your feedback is extremely important to us and is very much appreciated. This STRDH590 delivers up to 145 watts at 6 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.9 percent THD, 1 channel driven when on surround mode and 105 W + 105 W output power when on stereo mode. This model also brings all your devices together with Bluetooth connectivity, however, it doesn't have a capability to output sound to Bluetooth speaker. The Bluetooth feature of this unit is actually designed to receive audio from a WALKMAN, smartphone or tablet that has a BLUETOOTH function and listen to the received audio content via this receiver.
If you cannot make a Bluetooth connection or sound skips on the unit, please see page 44 on the instruction manuals link below to help resolve this issue.

Decent for the money

It does the trick but it’s a little clunky to use. The price is right.

We do apologize for the inconvenience. You can adjust the bass/treble level of the front speakers. Select [Sound Effect] from the home menu. Select [Bass] or [Treble]. Press up/down to adjust the level, and then press middle button.

Beware. Short life span

Making it usless. Just go look up protect error problems with this model online.

I was purchasing a receiver for my grandson for a Christmas present. I am 75 years old and know nothing about such things! The salesman was curt and not helpful at all. His attitude was "this is all we have, just get it and if it's not the right thing, bring it back." Then he told me I could go get a cart to put it in (it was quite heavy). I suggested perhaps it would be nice if HE went to get a cart for me! He made an unhappy face but did go get one.

Not a lot of options from Sony or Best Buy with out spending a chunk of money.

Calibration Type stops working after power off/on

Unfortunately, the calibration type setting is no longer applied when powered off/on. I have to toggle the setting to get it to work. After googling this issue, turns out the higher end STR-DN1080 also had this issue and it took Sony 2 years to release a firmware that fixed it. I couldn't find any firmware for this, and I doubt Sony will release one. Looks like I'll have to return.
