    bad product and BB return policy

    All the HDMI ports seem to stop working randomly and now I cannot return as apparently best buy only has a 2 week window. Tested on multiple devices and ports. Terrible.

    Great sounding Amp - easy to setup

    Plenty of power, great sound, and was very easy to setup. Auto calibration works great to sort out how far your speakers are from you to optimize sound. The 4K hdmi pass throughs work great to just run 1 cable to your tv and everything else through the receiver and still get a great picture. Love the standby bluetooth feature! - This lets you turn on the receiver from your phone and start playing music without having to grab the remote or walk up to it to turn on. Simple thing, but we use that feature all the time.

    This system is not worth the price. The system hops from one input to another when first turned on, DVD, Media Box, Sat Rec, ect. I saw others had the same issue. Wish I had gone with Yamaha instead.

    I am pretty disappointed with the lack of audio options. I have an older Sony receiver that offers many more audi options.

    Sound protect mode

    This receiver SUCKS! It's constantly going into sound protect mode regardless of volume. We have tried everything and based on other reviews, our issue seems to be the biggest complaint with this receiver. I would NOT recommend buying this receiver because unless you have it on "mute," it's not going to work. Huge waste of money!

    Received in good physical condition. Attached my existing Yamaha speakers from a previous Yamaha receiver and was not able to get it to work. I checked out each speaker with an old FM stereo receiver. All speakers checked out OK. I noted that SPK ON/OFF switch on the Sony Receiver read: NOUSE. At this point I decided the receiver was defective and plan on shipping it back.

      We do apologize for the inconvenience. We recommend connecting wired speakers with a nominal impedance of 6 ohms to 16 ohms. We also recommend using speaker wires that are anywhere between 12 to 16 gauge. These are most commonly used for connecting speakers to an amplifier or an Audio/Video (A/V) receiver.     Could not get the unit to work If your looking for a unit that has A & B speaker switching this is not the unit

    Dropped video

    It constantly loses video. I have to remove the HDMI cable from the back that goes to the TV, wiggle it, and hope it restores the signal. At least once a day, but sometimes several times an hour. The audio quality is good, and the video when it works is clear, but there's no excuse for it to constantly drop signal like that, especially from a brand name like Sony.

      Hi JHibberd, We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with the STRDH590 Home Theater Receiver. We'd love to troubleshoot the issue and make this a better experienced for you. In the meantime,

      Try pressing the input button on the remote control or turning INPUT SELECTOR on the receiver to select the input to which you want to watch.
      Set your TV to the appropriate input mode.
      Make sure that cables are correctly and securely connected to devices.
      Disconnect the HDMI cable from the receiver and TV, and then reconnect the cable.
      Set “SIG. FMT.” of the selected input to “STANDARD” in the “” menu.
      Some playback devices need to be set up. Refer to the operating instructions supplied with each device.
      Be sure to use a High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet when you view images or listen to sound, especially for 1080p, Deep Color (Deep Colour), 4K or 3D transmission. Premium High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet, which can support bandwidths up to 18 Gbps, is required for 4K/60p 4:4:4, 4:2:2 and 4K/60p 4:2:0 10 bit, etc.
      If you want to play HDCP 2.2 content, connect the receiver to an HDMI input jack of a TV that is compatible with HDCP 2.2.

      You may also try using a different HDMI cable to connect your STRDH590 to your TV.

    It was defective. No audio from tv.

    The receiver is ok, the volume is not that great.

    The output in strength is not that great and i have bose 301 speakers. It ok to connect to my tv but it's still weak.

    This received is excellent in every respect. The visual design is clean, controls are simple, and the remote is logically laid out. HDMI video signals are passed through with no indication that they are not running directly from the source. The sound is clear and precise, with plenty of power in each channel, even for large spaces. I've always been a fan of Sony receivers for their value and longevity, and this received continues in that tradition. An excellent product at an outstanding price.

    Sound and picture were good. Speaker calibration a bit tricky. In less than a month, inputs failed. Support wanted to take two weeks to fix it. Luckily Best Buy allowed me to return it.

    This didn't work so well without new 65 inch screen TV. Had to be replaced. Geek Squad came and replaced it no service charge.

    Will not connect Roku to TV. Extremely unstable intermittent connection. Every time you turn it on you need to select the source you want to watch. Need to unplug from wall outlet and power back on to get it to function.

      Hi moomoo,

      Make sure nothing is blocking the Infrared (IR) sensor on the AV Receiver. Some locations or TV stand designs can interfere with the IR signal from the remote control. Glass enclosures, as well as fluorescent or halogen lights, may prevent the IR signal from reaching the AV Receiver.
