I haven't had a new receiver in quite some time. So I saw this and decided to get it. Wow, The sound is beyond great. I had no idea that it could enhance my 4K TV's picture. I really enjoy the bluetooth mode. Overall a great product. Very pleased.

I bought this to replace an old DVD/VCR surround sound system is an RV. It works very well and has great sound. The reasons I did not give it five stars are: there is no output for a passive subwoofer, the startup state always seems to hijack the system back to a startup screen (as apposed to the last mode used, which would be preferred), and the only way to choose preset FM stations is to scroll through them at the beginning of the list each time you want a different station. There is no direct entry option. But so far, this unit has performed very well.

Great receiver for price easy installation ,easy setup instruction very good .Sound quality excellent very pleased with product. I upgraded from my fifteen year old receiver to this Sony one. Connected to my 75" Sony with a Bose surround sound system just amazing.

Surprised at the amount of sound that this receiver produces, its amazingly clear and has many features for the price you can't go wrong with this piece. I bought for the church to use in the kids area.

easy to assemble and to hook up. The microphone did not work but it could be due to an apartment installation. People said it was worm but it doesn't feel like it gets warm enough to damage any of the components inside. Overall I'm satisfied.

I'm not an audiophile and I'll probably never be, I'm just making a simple review. I had a Yamaha VX375 that the sub out quit working on so I was in the market for a new receiver. I'm using two old school Klipsch Eclipse II's and a powered sub for my living room to mainly listen to music. The nicest upgrade for me was the Bluetooth ability to hook up to my phone when i want to use spotify. The only thing that I've found so far is that the volume limit is pretty low - 70. Which thinking about it now, it's pretty loud with the Klipsch speakers. My Yamaha went higher. Other than that, I'm happy with my purchase. As far as pricing goes, its probably a little more affordable than some of the brands out there but for what I use it for, it's perfect.

Nice sound and easy hookup. Easiest transition to a new unit ever. Great sound and nice features. I really love if I stream to the tv I don't have to do anything as the unit switches itself. This unit rocks.

The Sony receiver has worked great! Had this recommended to me by an employee in store and purchased it that same trip. The set up was super easy, and now I can Bluetooth anything to my home speaker system. Heck yeah!!

I read a number of reviews prior to buying a replacement AV Amp. Many said this is the unit to get for the price - I have to agree. It turned out to work perfectly with my Polk audio home theater system. Even the subwoofer (which wasn’t working with the old amp) works beautifully! The sound balancing is great. I do agree with a previous reviewer about there being four slots for banana plugs and the remaining were spring closure. Banana plugs are a VERY good idea. Don’t sweat it if you don’t have them though as it will take the regular speaker wire just fine. There is only one optical outlet- so be aware of that. I use this for my 5.1 speaker system, PS3, and fire-stick streamed through TV USB. Fits my needs perfectly with great performance- I couldn’t be happier ! I recommend this for anyone looking. Great system!

This receiver produces decent audio quality for the price, it’s HDMI interfacing works well (Power off, on, volume up and down work with other devices), and features useful tuning features. The user experience, while rather sluggish in settings menus, is decently put together, and it features a UI while in bluetooth mode which is a nice touch. My only problems with it would be the audible hiss in higher volume settings (though my current setup rarely needs to go over 25) and the fact that the amp menu is controlled through the unit’s display, instead of with the onscreen UI. Also if you’re using a device like an Apple TV, directly controlling the unit’s volume through HDMI does not show the volume on the TV. You have to choose the ‘adjust by IR’ in the media box’s settings. While it may have some small quirks, I’d say this is a good introduction receiver for people interested in upping their TV’s sound.

I rated 4 stars instead of 5 for user experience. The build quality and functional nature of this unit is sound and typical Sony - I've used Sony audio and video products for years and the specs meet my needs. However, in a connected house that includes among other things a Google Nest hub, the "connectedness" of this Sony receiver means that, when watching video or listening over Bluetooth, prompting the google hub for any reason - even accidentally - will mute this receiver and you pretty much have to wait until the Google hub is done with whatever it is doing before you can turn the volume back up. Also, I had a dickens of a time getting this to play nicely with my Vizio tv but maybe that was just me. All in all, it's worth a look if you need a budget A/V receiver.

So far so good, but 725 watts isn't what I had hoped for... When you crank up the receiver it cuts out after a few minutes !!!! The Polk T150 floor speakers sound good, but with very little base in them..... In a year, a whole new component system......

Excellent sound and easy-to-use. I don't know why I waited so long to get this. Makes my home theater and music collection, complete.

Works very well, nice sound. Many options which I am still exploring. Bought this to replace a decades old receiver and to complement a 4k smart TV. So far so good, a little quirky operationally between on-screen and on receiver menus but so far pleased with this unit, especially for the price, $179 on sale.

I had the Sony STR-DH190 for awhile, and finally upgraded so I could have HDMI ports. This 590 has so many gadgets and controls built in, that for a non-audiophile, it was tricky to complete the overall setup. But I'm happy with this receiver, it has good sound, not very bulky, and expandable.

This receiver can do it basically all great device for the money. I payed like 230$ and the set up is easy I’m happy with it . I run two Dual 8 towers from Klipsch , 12 Sub and center from klipsch ... plus all my devices like tv , dvd, media box, cable box ect are running through the receiver now . Easy handling !

After about eight years the earlier version of this receiver gave out. I am happy that I found this version. Using the newer on screen instructions and the printed instruction book made the set-up easy. However, I would like the sound better if it had a clear voice option in the line up of sound controls. I have been trying off and on for a week to get an LG smart TV controller to operate my receiver to no result. I still need two controllers to turn the system on and off. Because of this struggle I have become much more aware of the capabilities of this receiver. They are impressive. The controller is small and thin, and hard to hang onto particularly for people with arthritic hands, but it does have access to voice control, unless that's my TV. Overall it was a great buy for a decent sound. It packs plenty of power even for a large living room kitchen area.

Powerful receiver and tons of customizations. I have KLIPSCH speakers connected to it and sounds amazing very powerful with deep bass so if you like having movie theater sound at your home this the amp to go with.

We have a 5.1 system and most likely will never change from that. 4 in ceiling and then a front bar Polk and a Sony subwoofer. We enjoy playing music through Bluetooth and especially enjoy movies through this receiver. Got on sale. Very happy.
