This is basically the exact same model as I had before. That last one lasted me for nearly 15 years without issue.

First let me say I have bought a lot of stuff from Best Buy and generally have no problem. However, I bought this as an open box item after a family member had bought the same receiver and I really liked the sound. A few weeks after I hooked it up my wife watching TV and everything went Black. When I came home I shut everything down and turned it back on and everything was working again. A few weeks later I was watching and the same thing happened. After messing with it, switching to new HDMI cords, and changing the output ports I discovered that something is wrong with the SAT/CATV port. You literally have to jiggle it. When I looked up my purchase date I also discovered that Best Buy has a 15 day return policy instead of something more reasonable. Now I have begun a manufactures warranty odyssey. After talking to a person that worked for BB in the past they said NEVER buy open box because no effort is put into figuring out if something is wrong and fixing it when it is returned. Items are just packaged and resold at a cheaper price. The lessons learned are don't buy OPEN BOX and think long and hard about the warranty period you want before you buy something from Best Buy.

I had an old Integra receiver that was like $700 from the early 2000’s blow a center channel a couple years ago. So decided after a couple years of looking at my speakers and not having anything to use them with I picked this up on sale during the holidays. I was shocked at how good it was and how it was way better than my older high end one. Only needed 5.2 so it was perfect!

I like Sony products because of the excellent customer support. This AV tuner works great. I have Bose Acoustimas stereo speakers that sort of work on this device but not as well as they did on my old pre-HDMI tuner. I needed HDMI ports, as most of us do, so will have to upgrade the speakers someday, sigh.

Exactly what I needed for my basic 5.1 set-up at my home. The ARC and easy to use software works good enough for my needs. The auto-calibration is quick and easy to use. Using all Sony speakers with this set up that fits my budget and needs. A good start AV receiver that does not hurt your wallet if you find it on a good sale.

Purchased this to replace 20 year old Sony Audio Video receiver. Works great with the speakers and LG TV that I was using.

Great performance and sound quality that fills the room completely with high level of music. It is really amazing to listen to the music from the deep bass and full watt output from both speakers powered by this receiver/ amplifier. The connectivity is very simple compared to other expensive devices I used in the past.
