this is the cheapest home theater receiver with the sound and extras of a more expensive product... excellent.

Great receiver for listening to tunes and surround. I’m sure that if you spend 3 or 4x the price you will get more power and features but my disco days are over. Actually I’m a little young for disco and I always hated it growing to adolescences in the 80s, but you get the idea.

Easy set-up, lots of performance in a small package. Updated a 15 year-old Yamaha because I needed HDMI inputs and outputs for my new TV. I don't see the point in paying anymore for the bells and whistles in the higher priced Sony receivers. Integrates nicely with my Bravia.

Works great and does everything it suppose to. Even love the Bluetooth capabilities, something that my last receiver didn't have.

I needed to upgrade my receiver to one with HDCP 2.2 ports. My old receiver was Sony so I was sticking with that brand (because I like my old one). Unfortunately I was stuck in wonderland where I either purchased this "budget" receiver with only 4 HDMI ports, or spend several hundred dollars for the high end model with 7 ports but included a bunch of additional features I don't need. I opted with making my AV system work with the 4 ports, although I'm already missing the plug in play of a front HDMI port. Not an absolute dealbreaker, but it bothers me. My other big complaint is that you cannot rename the inputs, this was a surprise and as silly as it may sound, I probably would have upgraded to the more expensive model had I known (this along with # of ports). I can never remember if my PS4 Pro is plugged into the SA-CD port or GAME port. Sure, I can memorize it, but seriously, how difficult would it have been to give me the option to rename the inputs!?! All in all, if you have a 5.1 setup and need HDCP 2.2 ports for your 4K content, this is a great midlevel option. While I don't think it's quite fair to call it a basic receiver (there are more budget friendly models) compared to other high end receivers it is a basic receiver but sometimes that's all you need.

I wanted a simple receiver with multiple HDMI inputs and this one fits the bill. I have a home theater and my goal was to be able to have surround sound using Amazon Prime. This receiver was fairly easy to set-up and calibrate using the included microphone. I love the fact that I no longer have to use different remotes when switching to Amazon Prime audio.

This unit is very versatile. It has connections for everything you need. A nice feature is front speakers surround sound. All you need is two speakers for theater surround sound. Works great with my smart tv and my old turn table. My turn table needed a preamp but it connects well with the receiver.

I really can’t give a fair review as I’m still in the process of first used. Needing to replace speakers and rewired them so it’s taking a bit to actually enjoy this system. However, it was recommended and I’m hopeful that it will meet expectation.

Absolutely affordable technology by Sony I love it and paired with Klipsch speakers working even better Great Hi Fi system and easy to setup with lots of feature

Bought this for myself, really like it! Serves as our home theater, great for streaming and movie watching, eliminated having to have the tv on as with chrome cast, but at a much higher price than the chromecast. Works great, easy setup, with visual on screen adjustments made with remote. Love it.

I have always owned Sony Stereo Equipment. I have found them to be long lasting devices at a reasonable price. I purchased this receiver to replace the Sony receiver I owned for over 20 years. I really like the improved setup options with the new model and the sound is great!

We get great sound and the 4 HDMI inputs cover our video needs.

Easy to set up. Great sound movie and surround sound.

Simple and fast to set up. Everything is easily marked on the back of the receiver so it's easy to know where what cables go. When you add another set of speakers though, you have to do the set up process where you plug in the microphone.

This device produces awesome sound. Really impressed when we wonder if bird chirps are outside. The room rumbles with subwoofer and comes alive placing you in the midst of the scene.

Had it for two weeks using an optical cable with a Bravia TV, got bored and found the ARC jacks on the back and connected with an HDMI cable. Turned on the TV, the amp turned on by itself and shut down the TV speakers automatically. The amp sounds twice as good now, and can be controlled with the TV remote.

I thought the Sony 725 AV home surround sound receiver 5.2 was an excellent buy for the money it did everything I wanted it to the sound was excellent the sound coming out of it through my Sony disc player was excellent watching movies was a real Joy it was very easy to hook up no real mysteries to hook up and a pretty simplistic operation anyone looking for a reasonably priced surround sound receiver should look into this I do not think you will be disappointed
