It may not have a million features but honestly does every item we own need to be 'smart'? Upgrading from my old 6 year old receiver to this I noticed a big increase in sound quality even though I kept the speakers.

The HDR is finally on all HDMI ports with Dolby Vision support as well. I think it's an average sounding system with fare dynamics for the price.

Great Economical Receiver! Sounds great!!

It lost the sub woofer output so I replaced it with this one. It responds to whatever type audio the input sees. The only challenge was plugging it into our TV to set up the receiver with the onscreen menu. The TV doesn't have enough HDMI inputs to leave it plugged in. I wish it had all controls on the front like the 7.2 version. Oh well, progress I suppose...

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.It runs very cool and quiet but isn’t particularly impressive sounding nor very powerful for an AV receiver but what do you expect at this price level. On the plus side, it does integrate well with my tv and is well controlled by my tv remote and works well with Apple TV and Sony Blueray. However the surround sound is mediocre and it took several attempts to balance the center channel and sub woofer. Sony needs to upgrade its software and an App would be nice.

Nice AV Receiver at a good price

The sound is clean. The receiver responds to my Samsung remotes. Most important to me was that all the signals pass through the receiver even in standby mode.

Note that if you have issues with a "protect" error message you need to check your speakers and/or wiring.

A Good Option For Amazon Firestick Users

NIce unit for the Price

Seemed to glitch quite a bit, would not recognize the eARC cable. Then wouldnt recognize the number of speakers. All had to be manually assigned, something I feel should be automatic. After a quick google search for troubleshooting I found a nice article from Sony that fixed the eARC issue. Then gave up on the speaker settings for the night. In the morning the "sony elves" worked their overnight magic and the speaker settings were good. Honestly could have been it needed a couple of full "power downs" to get things going. Still, I feel, this should have working out of the box. For the money though I am satisfied overall. I guess was spoiled my my $1300 Marantz HTR.
