sony reciever is great

Owned for 3 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have use sony reciever since 2003 now 2024 I get the sound I want for the subwoofer but I recommend not using the subwoofer channels the filtering is not good I do recommend using front channels for subwoofer with a custom filtering that will works best for the subwoofer

Great replacement for an old Sony Receiver

This one easily replaced it, keeping all the same speakers, but adding additional functionality with HDMI source switching and 4K Ultra and Hi-Res Audio. The only annoying thing is the on-screen display.

Great on a budget

Good receiver with annoying pop-ups

The problem is the interface. It has this super annoying pop-up screen that you cannot disable that shows up every time you power the thing up. I bought this for my older mom who gets confused having to use two remotes. because of that pop-up you always have to have the receiver remote around to clear that pop-up before use. This could have been an easy fix if there were a way to disable it but there isn't. I ended up returning this receiver and got one without this issue and am pleased that I did.

It is part of the normal operation to display the home menu of the receiver if it is connected to your TV via HDMI. Simply press the home button on the remote control to exit. Make sure that all HDMI devices connected have HDMI Control enabled. On the other hand, if all HDMI devices are connected to the TV and only the HDMI ARC/eARC port connects to the receiver, then the TV will both control and display all device menus and content.

A Great Replacement

Once integrated into theatre system it provided great sound for various speaker arrangements. As well as various inputs.
