Gets hot needs fan

Owned for 6 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Gets hot needs fan as this amplifier is powerful sounds very good and works well with my surround home audio system ...it augments my front speakers as I am using it to Biamp my speakers. It helps them to sound even better than when I was just running them with the receiver. The extra wattage turns out to be necessary for Bowers and Wilkins603 towers. I think I’m getting the quality of sound that they were designed to deliver. Before star rating is because of the heating problem.

What do you expect for the price?

Pros: easy setup, ARC works well, looks nice and decent sound. Cons: Does NOT pass through 120Hz for 4K gaming, just 60hz. You have to connect game consul directly to TV. Sound can seem tinny at times.

I recently had a Yamaha receiver and I needed an upgrade. Bestbuy had this receiver for $90 off and I was comparing this with a newer Yamaha. While the Yamaha is a great receiver this compares hand in hand with the Yamaha, especially for a receiver that only cost me under $200. Great deal for a great receiver. Thanks Bestbuy for great customer service helping me chose which one to purchase.

The automatic sound calibration is quick and easy and removes the need for additional fine tuning (although you can still fine tune if you want). Good overall system for a basement movie theater.

Old Onkyo system with amp tuner and CD player separates were too long to fit in new tv cabinet. Needed subwoofer PFE output which the Yamaha similar amplifier was lacking. Am currently using only to power my Bose 901 and subwoofer speakers and not as a home theater receiver and it has enough power Only cons is that you need to connect to tv with hdmi to calibrate. Would recommend. Price is right.

The 4k Upscale really enhanced the video quality. I had purchased a previous version of this almost 10 years ago and still works but needed something with newer technology. The Bluetooth and 4k upscaler are amazing.

The self-calibrating automatic setup with the provided microphone worked really well. We use at least two of the sound modes between movies and music. We also like the "night mode" for watching TV or movies when the house needs to be quiet.
