    I may be returning this receiver because I learned it does not have a blue tooth signal that is compatible with the blue tooth speakers I purchased

      Hi cstokes, Thank you for the feedback on your experience with your STRDH590. We regret to hear that the unit had to be returned. This receiver is designed to receive a Bluetooth signal from a smartphone or tablet. It is not capable of transmitting one to a Bluetooth device such as wireless headphones or speakers.     Prob with HDMI

    Sounded fine but would not hookup via HDMI to my Lg 65" TV.Tried different HDMI cable and a call to Sony and Geek Squad. They ad no answer.

    Died After 1 Year

    Was great while it worked. Got stuck in Protect Mode after a year of use and no changes to anything. Extremely disappointed.

    Absolutely horrible purchased it open Box certified got 300 miles to the mountains and found there was no owner's manual remote or Mike to set up the system

    TV setting/speakers vs Bluetooth setting/speakers

    This should be able to play 2 different sets of speakers at the same time utilizing two separate input sources (ie. A TV and FM radio located in separate rooms)

      Thank you for sharing your honest review. We're glad that you like most of the features and ease of setup. We're sorry to learn if you find the overall audio quality not as great as you would liked. Double check the speaker wires. We recommend using speaker wires that are anywhere between 12 to 16 gauge. These are most commonly used for connecting speakers to an amplifier or an AV receiver.

      To try and resolve the issue if the surround effect cannot be obtained, be sure to select the optimal sound field for the content. For details on the sound fields, see “Selectable sound fields and their effects.”. [PLII Movie] and [PLII Music] do not work when “” - “PATTERN” is set to “2.0” or “2.1”.

    It stopped working..

    I bought this at the end of April, and it's now the beginning of July.. so I've only owned it for a little over a month.. In the middle of watching TV, the receiver turned off. I tried turning it back on, and the display would not show anything at all, but the light would turn green as if it was on. About 6 seconds later, the receiver would turn itself off, and the light would turn red. I tried unplugging all of my speakers and subwoofer and plugged it into a different power source, but it still does the same thing.. Before this happened, the receiver worked fine and the quality was overall very great.. I'm pretty upset that it gave out so quickly, and I really don't know why. I don't turn it up very loud at all, so I don't think it has anything to do with how I was using it/the speakers I had connected.

    Mine will no longer power on. The indicator light won't even turn. I've tried to get in touch with warranty but could not get any help

    I bought this receiver to match my Sony TV. Unfortunately I also bought a new Turn Table and the receiver would not connect to the turn table. So I could not use it. Waste of time and money if you want to hook up a turn table to this receiver. You have to buy another type of receive to add to this one.

      Thank you for the review and we do apologize for the inconvenience. To connect a turntable to a stereo system, the stereo system should have a  phono  input. If a phono  input is not available, the turntable must have a built-in amplifier or an in-line amplifier must be used to connect the turntable to another input on the stereo system.

      Thank you for the review and we're sorry to hear what happened with your unit. We're more than happy to help you out. We recommend not to install the appliance in a confined space, such as a bookcase or built-in cabinet. Although the receiver heats up during operation, this is not a malfunction. If you continuously use this receiver at a large volume, the cabinet temperature of the top, side and bottom rises considerably. Place the receiver in a location with adequate ventilation to prevent heat buildup and prolong the life of the receiver. Do not place the receiver near heat
      sources, or in a place subject to direct sunlight, excessive dust, or mechanical shock. Do not place anything on top of the cabinet that might block the ventilation holes and cause malfunctions.

    Overall very limited in what you can do unless the unit is completely hooked up to your television the display screen on the front of the unit is so basic you can barely tell when you are switching from various modes. Very disappointed so far at this point with this unit I am trying to determine whether return it but I believe I'm past that return date would not buy if I was asked!

    Didn’t come with the remote. (It should have come with all original pieces and accessories) Please refund $40 of my purchase. ($40 is the price Best Buy charges for missing remotes)

    Sony STR-DH590 Annoying Home Screen At Every Start

    Annoying Home Screen at Start Up Each time I turn on my Sony STR-DH590 AV receiver, the "home" menu comes up on my TV. I'm really sick of click yes I want to watch, yes use the SATV. I have to press the "Home" button in order for it to disappear. I'm searching for a fix so I don't have to dismiss the home screen on each startup. Sony doesn't seem to have an answer. I just want it to GO AWAY
