I bought this receiver because it handles 4K and all the speakers in our room with the TV. It was much easier to set up than I expected, just a few steps with on-screen instructions. The remote is much smaller and easier to use than an older model than I had. It's all I need and not more than I need.

This stereo reciever is incredibly poweful and crystal clear. The volume goes up to 100 and i havent turned it past 25 yet. The only complaint is the speakers connect to the reciever the old way where u have to actually push the wire through the hole and there is only one banana clip input for two speakers which u can just plug in.

Absolutely loving this receiver! Highly recommend it if you are looking for a simple 5 channel for your living room or movie room. I’m using it in my movie room. I have a project hooked up that is older so I had to run a 50 ft hdmi cord and have all my gaming systems in there. So we use the Xbox to play movies as well. Have my 5 corded Bose speakers hooked up. Easy to hook up and set up sound with the mic it has. You can connect your phone (Bluetooth) and play music, it just overall worked really well for me.

I bought this on short notice due to my Yamaha receiver in my family room failing. I needed something and inventory was scarce but doing this one at our local Beet Buy. It works and sounds great. It was also simple to setup with well written instructions.

Works seamlessly with my Sony TV. The different modes of music and movie sound it produces are impressive and useful. Very versatile A/V receiver. I'm using all speakers connections except the 2nd woofer and the sound is great, as well as the picture quality from DVDs. The HDMI ARC port works very well.

I bought this system to replace a 10yr old Sony DAV 500 series Theater in a Box that still worked. This model was on sale, and I figured that I couldn't wrong with the Sony brand give the 10 years of use I got of the last one. Here's my review starting with the good: Pros: Setup wasn't extremely complicated All of the HDMI ports are 4K passthrough with HDCP 2.2 Good mix of input types HDMI, RCA, Optical and etc. Cons: 1. Only 4 HDMI inputs...some people need more 2. Hard to find advanced spearker settings 3. Music sounded great, but movies were a different story. I could hear explosions wonderfully, but couldn't hear the actors speaking as clearly as I would have liked. This really showed up whenever I watched anything with a Brittish or Australian cast. 4. Defaulted to Night Mode every time you power the system up 5. Couldn't hear a difference between ProLogic 2 or DTS Bottom line I'm taking it back and getting the Denon 1400

Plug and play! I have been getting by with old equipment and pairing with TVs and smartphones was rough. This receiver solves all those problems and pushes some great sound!

I recently replaced my receiver with this Sony, because my old receiver did not have HDMI inputs or ARC. I wasn't expecting too much for this price, but I was surprised when I got this home! It has a microphone to adjust speaker levels and sound to your room, and it sounds twice as good as my old receiver, which cost me 4 times as much as the Sony!

Nice receiver for the price. If you hook it up to the tv via HDMI cable there is a settings menu to adjust your audio to your liking which is very cool.

Excellent receiver for the money if you do not need more speaker channels. Easy to set up and program for desired sound effect. Only downside for me is I have a couple of old components that only have RCA outputs, and receiver has no RCA inputs—easily solved with a $10-$12 RCA to HDMI converter.

A lot of nice features. Bought this for a patio projector screen system. Price was definitely the deciding factor. It comes with all the features you would except in a surround sound receiver. The only thing it is lacking that I wish it had is a second zone, other that that I am very happy with this purchase.

I bought this to replace my 12 year old receiver. Easy to set up and we connected it to the 5.2 surround sound in my sitting room. Only confusing thing is we couldn't figure out how to listen to movies/tv shows that were through an app instead of the cable. So it worked for cable but not if we were watching Netflix, Hulu, etc

Excellent addition to my home theater. It looks and sounds great, and gets plenty loud. HDMI input switching and component control is super convenient.

This sony rocks, i had this in my mans cave at first, the sound quality is amazing, sony is well known for speed and wide sounds, after this receiver, i bought the str dn1080 which is much powerful, but less sound field, atmost is just the additional and power, but for sound feild its the str dh590, if u have small to medium size and pair it with q acoustic 3020i, or micca rb42 with 5.1 svs 1000pro, youll be rockin, at first i pair this with bose v series, its amazing, then bought the micca rb42, with 5.1 set up, its amazing, the sound quality of this is amazing when you watch movie or streaming like netflix in dolby, if u dont like it in dolby you can select the other sound feild, i bought 3 av receiver in 6 months plus 3 tvs, different brand, but rnd up exchanging it to all Sony. U can’t get wrong with sony, now this str dh590 is in my daughters room, my mans cave has str dn1080, my living room has strdn1070 which is the older model of 1080,

My Samsung surround sound’s rear Bluetooth speakers started giving out. I was considering going to Sonos or buying another Samsung all in one surround sound theater. But I didn’t feel like spending the money so I just bought this and reused all my Samsung speakers except for the subwoofer. The sub on the Samsung was passive and I needed an active so this I purchased somewhere else. Also I bought this open box and it still worked perfect, it had a small scratch on the front which didn’t even matter to me cause I’ll prob scratch it myself anyway. So all the speakers were reused and re-wired the Bluetooth speakers and ran some cable under my house to maintain the wireless look and I totally prefer the wired cause you will NEVER get any breakup. I’ve had this for a month now and it’s lived up to all expectations! Price is good. Function is good. And the calibration is awesome!!

The STR-DH590 certainly packs a punch with all the included features, and the clean sound from this unit. I currently have a pair of Sony SS-CS5 Bookshelf speakers and the sound is fantastic. Having a built-in option for Bluetooth is game changing for me.
