Other than the fact that it runs VERY hot, and a few minor issues, I have been satisfied with the purchase and price that I bought it at. I can heartily recommend this Receiver (especially if you can find it on sale) as an "Entry level"/budget receiver.

Thanks for sharing your experience so far with your STR-DH590 5.2Ch AV Receiver. Choosing this AV Receiver will definitely be worth it. We're delighted to hear you are enjoying the outstanding sound quality of this receiver. We apologize that the unit gets heat so much. The audio system generates heat (even at low volume) due to circuit processing, and the area around the heat radiation holes on the top or back can become hot. The System may become even hotter depending on usage. To make sure heat is radiated efficiently, check the following:
• Don't put the unit in a rack
• Don't close or cover the heat radiation holes on the back or side of the unit
• Keep the unit at least 10 centimeters (3.94 inches) away from any wall or other objects

Once integrated into theatre system it provided great sound for various speaker arrangements. As well as various inputs.

Much of the fine tuning options do not display on screen rather they only show in the tiny reads out on the device in cryptic language.

Good receiver with annoying pop-ups

The problem is the interface. It has this super annoying pop-up screen that you cannot disable that shows up every time you power the thing up. I bought this for my older mom who gets confused having to use two remotes. because of that pop-up you always have to have the receiver remote around to clear that pop-up before use. This could have been an easy fix if there were a way to disable it but there isn't. I ended up returning this receiver and got one without this issue and am pleased that I did.
