Excellent product for the price, the setup was easy and performs great. Sound is loud and clear, Bluetooth option a plus, very pleased with this receiver.

Not a big video guy but very into music I have a three amp set up for two channels but nothing to take advantage of the blue ray and 5.1 formats so I got this and I admit I’m into five channel stereo with the sub (small ) and for this Sony snuck its way into my figure hi fi setup .if I was huge into home theater I’d go 7.1 but for a nice sounding standard unit this hit the spot for me .i do want altos sound now too but I never stop playing with various set ups for fun since 12 years old ,im 56 and still at it .Sony is king of video and nice headphones too

For over 20 years, we had a more high-end audio system (Rotel tuner/amp driving great Bowers/Wilkins floor speakers). Recently our tuner shorted out. My first effort was to have it repaired, but a good technician gave me good/bad news. Yes it was fixable, but it would cost more than good quality new units out there. Since we use the system mostly to play our large CD collection and to listen to FM music, we were reluctant to buy an expensive amp/tuner replacement. I was impressed that this Sony unit was highly rated on Best Buy's site. My only concern was that some audio consultants outside of Best Buy felt that it wouldn't drive my B/W speakers. I'm so glad that I bought this Sony 725W model. For less than the Rotel repair estimate, we have a tuner that gives great FM reception, just using the "string" antenna supplied. With both FM and CD media, our speakers sound better than when we got them. This Sony 725W model is plenty powerful at even lower sound levels to give us excellent fidelity. I've had the new unit for about 3 weeks and performance is excellent. Was also pleased that it was available for immediate purchase at a nearby Best Buy. The sales consultant also knew that it has banana-plug connections, making it plug-and-play for my speakers. I didn't have to get down with any wire-stripping! Shopping and set-up were a breeze. Totally happy with this purchase!

I bought this receiver about a month ago. I appreciate its excellent sound quality and how easy it was to set up. I was tempted by the next model up (the STRDH790), but I couldn't justify another $100 for features I don't need right now. This receiver was the right balance between price and features.

Had the bigger version of this Sony A/V Home Theater Receiver in our Media Room for a couple of years now. Needed to replace an older Bose Lifestyle System in our Den. This 5.2 High Res 4K system is just what we needed at just a fraction of the cost of replacing with a Bose. Had to buy a different Sub Woofer; got a Sony - Core Series 10" 115W Active Subwoofer and it works get with this Receiver. Receiver was very easy to set up and it sounds AWESOME (using my existing speakers). Highly recommended if you need a new A/V Home Theater Receiver!

Great receiver for the money. It is not the best out there but for the price you cannot beat it. I have all my outlets running through the receiver and the sound is amazing. Cable box and Blue Ray Player all going into the ARC HDMI port on the receiver. Easy to program with your TV. System automatically detects the sound recording, Dolby, DD+, DTS etc. I have never bought a Sony receiver before, always Pioneer. Now I am a changed man.

I needed to replace a 12 year old Panasonic all in one blu-ray home theater system that died. I wanted to keep the overall system size and cost to a minimum with size being the priority. This is an inexpensive receiver that fits my tv stand and integrates seamlessly with my Sony tv. It does what I need it to. Setting up the speakers is easy with the built in calibration program and included microphone. The available sound fields are more than I’ll ever use. This is only used for tv sound. I have played a little with the fm tuner and Bluetooth, but will likely never use them. Other than a HTPC that I use for cable tv connected directly to the tv and get sound to the receiver via ARC, I only have a Sony 4k blu-ray player (UBP-X700/M) connected to it (purchased at the same time). The Sony devices integrate nicely and I’m able to do everything I need through the tv remote. If not for wanting the integration with my Sony tv, there are probably better options out there. But it works well for my needs.

It works every time and gives me all the power I need for my large DEFTEK speakers. Easy to use and it sounds GREAT!

This is in excellent receiver. The sound quality is fantastic. But in order to use it properly you have to use a television to set up the system. If you use the sound centering system with the microphone being placed where you would normally sit it will disable the Subwoofer. I have the sound system set up in our outdoor area. It also works with Bluetooth.

Easy install that replace my old Sony of 25 years. Lots of power and clear sound through Bose system.

We had another brand for over 20 years and it just seemed to stop working for surround sound. We looked around for something to hook surround sound wires up to that also had some additional newer features with Bluetooth and WiFi. This Sony 5.2 channel is working well for us! It is so nice to have the option for surround sound again. It makes a huge difference. For the quality, price and ease of use we are happy with our purchase.

I needed a 5.2 receiver with 4k passthru for my PS4 Pro and I didn't want to break the bank. I already had my speakers placed and wired. Saw this unit on sale. For the price, it has all the features I needed and then some. Bluetooth included so I can stream music to my tablet and play it through my sound system was an added bonus. Simple to set up and get going, it will even automatically calibrate your speaker setup to get this most optimal sound. Would definitely purchase again.

As I bought this item as an open box and got it delivered for $220, I couldn't be more happy with My purchase. At 145 watts per channel it will fill any typical household sized media room with 5.1 surround very effectively. With a quality subwoofer it can sound amazing for TV, movies or music. It is also completely HDMI ready for 4K and any modern gaming systems, so I would recommend it as a very good bang for buck surround receiver.

I was looking for a simple setup in my basement family room and this fit the bill. The sound is awesome for such a small receiver. It's powerful enough to drive your speakers nicely. I like the very easy setup and remote layout. When I turn the tv on the receiver comes on as well and vice versa. I would recommend it to anyone not looking to break the bank and just get good clean sounds from a variety of sources. Sincerely, Samuel M

This product was a great value. Good sound, features. Yay, I have bluetooth now. And with two subwoofers, we cracking the concrete floor. A welcome upgrade of a 12 yr old Onkyo which was 7.1.2 which was a good item.

So far so good. I had my Yamaha receiver fail about a year ago. Since then I have been using a Yamaha Soundbar. Sound is okay, but nothing like a true surround sound system. So I recently purchased this Sony to be able to properly set up all my inputs and once again utilize my surround speakers. Set up was easy. Once you have all the components and speaker hooked up and you turn on the receiver for the first time you will be greeted by an Easy Setup menu. you then plug in the supplied microphone to the front mic jack and then put it in the spot you normally watch T.V., then select the auto calibration function and let it do it's thing. The only think I had to tweak slightly was the center channel. that I made a little louder for my large room. Sound is better than my old Yamaha that cost 3x more many years ago. So set up and sound are great. Cons; I wish I could program the input ID to match my actual devices In other words, I would like the onscreen display to show me my inputs such as Roku, Fire Stick, Dish etc. You cannot listen to Bluetooth headset. The Bluetooth is only from receiving sound, not sending sound. The onscreen menu could be updated, feels a little 'old school' All of these are minor issue's for what you are paying for this unit. If you want a straight forward receiver to connect all your devices and get great sound, this is a great choice.

Great price, easy set up, great picture and sound quality. I’ve never set up a receiver, but I hooked up all my devices and it was so easy to set up and very easy to use. I love it.

This receiver has been great! Connected with my klipsch speakers it sounds amazing and has plenty of power for a smaller system. Sound quality is great and having a Bluetooth option for quickly connecting a smartphone or tablet to play music is great for the family!
