Shortcoming in Best Buy Open Box sales

A few weeks ago this particular unit was on sale for ~$250 (both at Amazon and Best Buy). The open box (excellent condition) was offered at ~$200 at Best Buy. I chose to buy Open Box Excellent, thinking about a small saving while still getting a good unit. I was wrong. I was sent a faulty unit that would auto shutoff in less than 5 sec. When I took it to a local Best Buy for an exchange, I was told that I could only get a refund because they do not exchange Open Box product. By then the price of the unit had increased to $350 (new) or $319 (Open Box excellent). I told them about missing the opportunity to get the unit at a discounted price, if not exchanged. They said we understand and apologize for this situation but there is nothing we can do about it and I was referred to the Customer Service online. I tried to explain this to the customer service, but besides an apology they did not have a solution to rectify their mistake. So, I am at loss of net $150 because someone at Best Buy did not inspect the open box unit. Also, because the Best Buy return/exchange policy for open box products does not account for their own error. Be ware!

Note that it has a plug-in FM antenna that is different from most others - - an antenna from another system will not fit/ will not plug-in.

Mostly a great product

Bluetooth connection iffy

Using strictly as a stereo receiver to stream music with 2 pairs Klipsch speakers and a Klipsch sub. A couple of things- no tone controls (just present sound fields 'jazz' 'stadium' etc.) which doesn't let me control sounds like receivers from back in the day. I had to download an EQ app on my phone to get decent sound. Second problem is bluetooth pairing. My Samsung phone "sees" the receiver but won't pair. I'm left deleting the receiver from the phone and re-pairing it with the receiver remote each time I use it. A total pain since my UE megaboom bluetooth speaker has never had pairing issues. The only reason I'm keeping the receiver is to eventually use it as part of a home theater set up and because it was pretty inexpensive as I bought it on sale.
