Needed a receiver that would accommodate a streaming device and produce audio using its HDMI port when using a projector. This SONY was easy to set up and once plugged into an HDMI port it instantly provided audio. Previous receiver was very old and would accommodate a streaming device using HDMI and produce video but there was no audio. Had an A/V guy look at it and it would not work.

Outstanding sound. Excellent quality. User friendly. Comparable price with other appliance centers. The technician came to install the system. He showed me how to use the system. Have not had a problem with the system. Very happy with the purchase. Definitely will recommend it to family and friends. I have purchased other home theatre receivers in the past, but this one is definitely the best I have ever bought.

Great audio system for a very reasonable price. I purchased mine about Amin the ago and could not be more please with it. Simply love it so far it does everything it said it would and more. I really like the Bluetooth connection for playing music and it had four HDMI connections so I am able to plug all my devices in it and not worry about my TV only having two HDMIs that force me to unplug devices to use others.

We bought this to replace another receiver we had purchased a few years ago that did not last very long. I was a little Leary because of the price. It was less than I expected to pay. But it has turned out to be a great receiver. We have front back and center speakers and they sound great. We use it for a projector, play station and firebox and they all set up easily. We have a all in one remote that was very easy to change over to this system. Very impressed.

Bought this to replace a 35 year old receiver. Installation was quick and easy. Only hiccup is the unit does not have the 3 RCA jack accommodation for a video game (in this case a Nintendo Wii). I purchased a RCA-to-HDMI adapter and resolved the problem. Im very pleased with the system. It integrated perfectly with my Sony TV. Sound is excellent. The inclusion of the microphone for system calibration is a nice feature.

My husband and I purchased this because our old one was going out. It was a Sony as well and we had it for 25 plus years, so we decided to stick with the Sony brand. Glad we did. Great sound, easy to set up.

I replaced my AVR of the same brand which i bought in 1999. I love the sony brand as they last long and reliable. I used my existing 12 speakers from the previous AVR and it just works right out of the box. A little fiddling on the surround sound that requires the user to actually know what theyre doing. Otherwise, the default configuration just works. Added 4 more speakers for a total of 16 and the house shook. Just like in the theatres.

Connected it to the television and it immediately connected to it. Channels are loud and clear. Great value for the money. Fully 725 watts,

Ordered this product, arrived very quickly. Easy set up and it sounds Great, it replaced an old amplifier that I had set up in my ManCave for my TV and music system.

Solid treble & bass. Nice sound producted for streaming. Owned Onkyo for 5 yrs and Sony blowed me away with this one for good performance with very budget price. Not sure how long it will last but gave me very good first impression already. With the same speakers setup as with my old Onkyo, Sony has fulfilled most of background and ambient sound that I barely heard with my old Onkyo. Thanks BB for a Holiday great discount. I highly recommend this one for all entry-level entrainment setup.

Sound quality is adequate Bought to replace an Onkyo receiver that was 22 years old. The onkyo was louder had more options than the Sony However it was also a more expensive option even 22 years ago So ultimately it was like comparing apples to oranges. The onkyo had the option to play all channels stereo so when listening to music via streaming or you tube it was quite a bit louder and still clear with Polk Audio speakers This receiver is easily 10-15 decibels lower. It does reproduce sounds accurately. Just not to the degree the more expensive Onkyo achieved. That being said I would recommend on its value.

Wow! Sony home theater system is phenomenal! Crystal clear sound, deep bass, and immersive surround sound. Easy setup, sleek design. Worth every penny! 5 stars isn't enough!

I have been very happy overall with the SONY STR-DH590 receiver and it's great features. However, there has been one unresolved issue: I purchased this model, understanding it to be fully compatible with my new SONY OLED XBR-48A9S TV. However, I have been unable to receive sound via the TV's HDMI (eARC/ARC) port. Multiple phone and chat sessions with SONY support techs didl not resolve. Receiver interacts in all ways except for the sound output. I suspect the issue is with the TV and not with the receiver, but because SONY was never able to determine and since they have not followed up with me, I am not able to give a 5 star rating. The good news is I am able to receive multi-channel sound from all my TV input sources via the digital optical connection. This does require manually switching between tv & audio system speakers.

I purchased this system after reading the reviews online and researching other stores prices. The only thing I can find fault with that I didn't see(or didn't notice) on the reviews is that it requires a powered subwoofer. I spent several days stepping through the automated setup routine trying to figure it out using my passive subwoofer. Once I added a powered subwoofer I was 100% satisfied with my purchase. It ROCKS!! It literally shakes the house! LOL

I bought this to replace a 2-channel stereo receiver that died. A bit overkill for my setup, but if I ever do need surround sound or if my main system's receiver also goes belly-up, this will be a backup. The setup was super easy, the manual and controls clear and easy to understans (unlike my main system's to whose manual I still pull out on a regular basis after over 5 years!). And much to my surprise, it sounds better than the old unit. Probably all in my mind, but...

I just got a new projector and my old Sony (though not terribly old) wasn't able to switch 4K sources, so time to update. I didn't want to spend a lot and this model suited my needs and my budget. The price was right and the features did what I need for theater. It would have been a 5 star, but the sound I can get out of the receiver is less than stellar for music, so for theater it's fine, but it isn't a 'do-everything' receiver. I'm happy that it was in stock and I was wanting to get my home theater going quickly.
