Sony receiver

Overloads at level 50 out of 73. I would take it out and blast it with a shotgun, but I paid too much money for it. Hoping Best Buy will let me exchange it for something better.

Shuts off randomly

Design flaw

Good Receiver for the Money

It may clip. On the other hand, it performs very well and is, I think, a good product for the amount of money it costs.

Sounds Good But Not User Friendly

Thanks for sharing this honest. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the on-screen displays. Please refer to the information below if the home menu of the connected soundbar or A/V receiver displays on the TV when you switching to view content from other connected devices, and the HDMI devices are connected to the soundbar or receiver, and the soundbar or receiver is connected to the TV using an HDMI cable to the HDMI eARC/ARC port.
Make sure that all HDMI devices connected have HDMI Control enabled. If all devices have HDMI Control enabled:
If power is turned on from a device (such as a Blu-ray Disc player), then the soundbar or receiver and the TV turn on, and the TV switches to the proper input to view the menu or content.
By design and normal operation, soundbars and receivers identify the connected HDMI device, and the content (including the menu display) passes through to the TV.

DO NOT BUY

Unit works fine (most of the time) when watching cable broadcast but shuts down within minutes of streaming. Thing is I’m streaming through the cable box so nothing is changed with my setup. I have taken it back twice for service. It was returned both times with instructions to check speaker cables. Why would speaker cables work okay with cable tv but not with streaming? I’m not the only one having this issue (see one star reviews). This Sony amp is unreliable and not worth the risk.

Make sure the VOLUME or MASTER VOLUME knob of your AV Receiver is not set to VOL MIN.
Make sure headphones aren't connected to your receiver or input device.
Press the SPEAKERS button on your receiver and select a setting other than OFF SPEAKERS.
Try switching to a different input source.

This receiver is designed to receive a Bluetooth signal from a smartphone or tablet. It is not capable of transmitting one to a Bluetooth device such as wireless headphones or speakers.
