Upgrade from the one I bought in 2009 for 4k features. No wifi seems odd but the sound quality is much better.

Got this primairly for the Audio recieving part to create my surround system. But my Smart TV was also limitied on HDMI spots, which left my Switch in the cold when i had to connect this for set up. Luckily this comes with 3 4k capable video inputs, so my Nintendo Switch just runs directly through this when i want to play it on the TV. I also love that it comes with a calibration mic that automatically adjusts each individual speaker to your unique room set up vs having to spend hours doing it myself (which i was expecting to do) Its compatible with my speakers including my bluetooth subwoofer, so i cant complain.

The Sony STR-DH590 receiver comes with just about every feature you could want and the price is very affordable. Getting it hooked up and running was very easy with the on screen guide that it comes with. The sound quality is good to excellent.

4K Upgrade from my old Sony receiver, with HDMI inputs and Bluetooth built-in, what more could you ask. Plus a simple remote, easy to use.

I am spoiled. I can remember when flat screen TV's and audio receivers were much more expensive than they are today. That said, I now have three surround sound systems with large screen TV's in my house. One of them had a Home Theater Receiver similar to this Sony. When one of the other receivers failed, I waited for this new Sony receiver to go on sale. It checks all of the boxes for performance and has a simple and intuitive remote that makes operation easy and enjoyable. With Bluetooth no less! The failed receiver remote was so complicated that I know I never took advantage of all of its functionality. No matter how good the video for shows or games - The experience just isn't the same without quality audio.

Out performs my 700 dollar yamaha by a long shot. Plug and play, easy set up

Easy to use, and sounds great. Wish there were a few more options on customization with sound but overall I really enjoy. Definitely worth the price tag. Would for sure recommend!!

I had the Sony STR-DH190 for awhile, and finally upgraded so I could have HDMI ports. This 590 has so many gadgets and controls built in, that for a non-audiophile, it was tricky to complete the overall setup. But I'm happy with this receiver, it has good sound, not very bulky, and expandable.

Got this for a new surround setup I put together in the basement and it sounds great. Setup was easy and I found this receiver looked a little better than the other receivers that were on display. For the on sale price I highly recommend it.

I purchased this as an open box item. It was in great shape and included all accessories. As soon as I powered on the unit I could hear a buzz coming from it. It sounded like an AC compressor. I read another review here that reported the same issue, so mine definitely wasn't unique. Setup was very easy and it did a good job auto-calibrating my 5.1 setup using the included mic. I tested some movies first and they sounded great. Then I tested high-res, lossless music from a DAC, and that's where my big complaint is. Because I have mid-sized bookshelf speakers I always set speaker size to "small" in my receivers and let my subwoofer handle all the low end. I also prefer a direct, clean sound from my DAC -- no processing. Unfortunately this unit does not allow you incorporate the subwoofer in a clean 2-channel audio configuration. The only way to get output to the subwoofer is to use a processed effect, either one that uses ALL the speakers or an "Enhanced" mode that is adds processing to MP3s and other compressed music. The guide shows a direct 2CH option that includes the subwoofer, but I could not get it to use the subwoofer in that mode. I called Sony support and they were unable to help.

I upgraded from an older model because I love this receiver so much. It is super easy to use and works great with my surround speakers. This is a no brain buy if you are looking to setup an entertainment area.

I upgraded from an Sony STR-AV910. So far so good. Very good for the price. Lacks base by itself, but sounds awesome with my front speakers and subwoofer.

Using this in my living room vs. my home theatre. Everything works great so far and has good sound quality and surprisingly powerful. Easy to set up. Plugged it in months ago and haven't had to give it a second thought.

I got this to replace my 19 year old Sony system, and I have not been disappointed. It was easy to set up, and really filled the room. I used my original Sony speakers with no issues. On top of all that it looks great too.

This unit hooked up easily to 4 speakers already installed in the 4 corners of my condo livingroom. Now i listen to radio and i use the bluetooth feature to listen to podcasts. Easy to set up. Easy to operate. Great sound. Super happy.
