The sound is good; setup was relatively easy. I would suggest, if not owned, purchasing TV with the bells and whistles that will maximize what this receivers capabilities.

Easy upgrade

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded to this unit from another Sony home theater receiver that was 10 years old and still going strong, but didn't support 4K or newer audio encoding (to match my new-ish Sony TV) or a bluetooth source, which the new one does. The swap was easy, just moving cables and connections from the old unit to the new. It worked from the start. I like the automated speaker level setting capability - it worked the first time. A bonus is that I can now (mostly) operate all my devices (Sony and otherwise) using just the Sony TV's remote control. I'm very happy.

Good Budget Reciever

Big sound for small price

If you do want to use HDMI all inputs will go through amp. There is a pass through feature. Setup is very easy. Comes with a mic. Affordable and great sound quality.

It took less than 15 minutes to get it up and running. Excellent sound and clarity. A very good buy at a reasonable cost of $250. Would highly recommend it.

Old/New school rolled into one

This is connected to my Apple TV 4K and a Sony 4K blu ray player with a LG 4K TV. This is now the only TV/set up I will watch all my movies on. When I turn the Apple TV off, both the receiver and TV turn off. This set up isn't mean to rock your walls but meant for clear loud sound. With the Apple TV I can view Spectrum cable, HBO Max, SiriusXM radio, Netflix etc all from one fast streaming box, volume controlled by receiver. A great alternative if you have tried a few sound bars and if the sound still isn't doing it for you, try a "old school" set up mixed with the new hotness (Apple TV)
