My old one died so was looking for a reasonable price one to do the job. Works well. Little things I don’t like is that there are no bass and tremble knobs on the front and that you have to go in the Home Screen on the tv to totally adjust things. Although if I want these things that my old recover had it’s going to cost 3xs the amount now and I wasn’t prepared to spend that kind of money.

Versatile Receiver

I had a 20+ year-old receiver of which the left channel final amplifier malfunctioned. I took this opportunity to upgrade some other components in my entertainment system but retain some others that worked well. This receiver was great for both instances (new equipment with HDMI connections as well as my existing equipment with older connections). Also, I get my FM radio back.

Great Amp

I had a sony amp from 2008-2019 and it was great! When it went, i had a pioneer amp and i coukd barely hear surround affects but it was an old amp. Purchased this amp in May 2023 and it was a wise choice. I csn now hear the surround quite clearly. Glad i purchased it. I recommend it

Not quite perfect but not Best Buy's fault.

Height is critical due to the location it must be placed in. A previous Onkyo stopped working because it didn't have enough space around it to let it cool naturally. But, I found a later model with more features that was the same size at RC Willey and they offered installation and I decided to return the unit to Best Buy. They took it back with no questions asked and refunded my Credit Card payment without a problem.

Great receiver with a great price

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I waited a little bit to give this review and I'm super happy, it synchronizes great with my LG tv and when I turn on the TV the receiver turns on automatically, disabling the tv speakers. All plugs use banana plugs except the plugs from the surround speakers, that use the traditional slide in system. The sound quality is excellent, I played all of my favorite movies and just using surround provided a new experience. What I liked is it bring a microphone so you can auto calibrate the system. Overall i'm super happy!

Everything there and packed well, as you would expect from Sony. Sounds is good. Didn’t have success with the automatic room sound calibration setup feature, as it said it was too loud to make the adjustments, although it was library quiet. But I had the same problem with an Onkyo system in my den upstairs. This unit is not a high end one, but serves my needs and has the features I needed. Paired it with Onkyo speakers and a Sony sub.

Initial review is more than adequate and performs as expected. Whether this will hold true in the long term remains to be seen but again at this point working has expected and am satisfied with purchase. Luckily was able to by accident grab this on a sale and a short window of time which ended up being of less cost than the Sony 5.2 channel 4K receiver.
