Just what we needed. Our old receiver died and getting good sound from tv speakers was not working. We’re not very tech savvy when it comes to all the wires. Almost call geek squad for troubleshooting our problem Thought we would give replacing receiver a try. This was excellent replacement. Easy hook up Very reasonable price. Super happy with this receiver. Sound quality is better than my ears, the bluetooth is simple, easy and doesn't drop, creates nice sound from the tv (over a pair of Wharfedale speakers). Plenty of power for when I add a pair of rear surround speakers.

My recent purchase of the Sony STR-DH590 was the right choice for my Home Theater System. Purchasing my receiver from Best Buy was also the SMART CHOICE. I have it paired with Klipsch speakers and the system sounds great. We enjoy having the bluetooth capabilities and being able to connect phone to listen to music. Happy with my purchase.

Very good sound! I have it hooked up to 4 speakers. It’s good for music and movies! Enough HDMI Ouputs for gaming and other devices. Easy to use and powerful! I recommend buying this Sony Receiver!

This is a great little receiver. Even in just 5 channels for surround sound, the decoding is precise enough to still enjoy a very modest home theater experience. I have a pair of Sony towers for the fronts, Sony center channel, And Sony bookshelf speakers for the rear. I have a 12" and 15" Klipsch subwoofers for the low and very low end. The best part is the rotary knob for source selection. My children can even scroll to whichever input they need (usually they keep it on the one that has their Nintendo Switch connected). My favorite thing is the ability for the system to automatically calibrate each speaker to the listening area for optima sound reproduction, or you can do it manually, indicating how far each speaker is from the listening area or how loud each speaker should be (or how loud you want it to be). It also has a very basic sound mode where it only has the front two speakers on. Really, Sony did a great job making an affordable receiver that can still compete with many other receivers that cost hundreds more, in my opinion. I just wish more receivers had analog-to-digital systems and analog audio/video inputs. This one does not, so playing DDR on my dance pad on my PS2 needs an adaptor.

This is a great receiver. Has enough power to make everything sound great and the controls are super easy. Hookup is easy, and the self-calibration is fantastic.

Not a big video guy but very into music I have a three amp set up for two channels but nothing to take advantage of the blue ray and 5.1 formats so I got this and I admit I’m into five channel stereo with the sub (small ) and for this Sony snuck its way into my figure hi fi setup .if I was huge into home theater I’d go 7.1 but for a nice sounding standard unit this hit the spot for me .i do want altos sound now too but I never stop playing with various set ups for fun since 12 years old ,im 56 and still at it .Sony is king of video and nice headphones too

I just replaced my old Denon that went down with this model. First of all the price was great getting it on sale. Installation was so simple and within minutes, we were putting it through it's paces. The set up was simple and the calibration microphone did a great job of calibrating our speakers. The interface to manually adjust or to use different modes is straight forward and easy to use. This a/v receiver drives my Bose Accoustimass system better than my old and more expensive Denon did. It's got enough bells and whistles for me to take advantage of while keeping it simple and easy to operate for my wife who isn't so techy. Great value.

I bought this to replace a seventeen year old Insignia receiver so I'd get HDMI ARC connectivity and Bluetooth. The first pleasant experience was I ordered in on a Friday, for Sunday delivery and on Saturday I got an email saying it would be delivered that day, which it was. I followed the setup instructions, connecting five speakers and two Sony sub woofers I had recently bought. Setup was super easy. Ran through the various functions and it all worked well right out of the box. All in all I'm very pleased. I'd highly RECOMMEND this item.

I replaced a much older receiver with this new one. The features I wanted included Bluetooth and surround. It has plenty of power for my good sized living room and we stream from Bluetooth devices, mostly phones, and of course surround sound for tv and movies. Great product at a great price.

This receiver is great! It has all the features I need, and every HDMI port is 4k compatible. The sound and the video are GREAT! Setup was easy, but then I have a little background with this stuff. NOTE: As with any receiver, you'll have to enter the setup menu and chose "enhanced" for the HDMI ports if you want them to support 4k resolution.

Sounds great with my Acoustic Research (5) Surround Speakers and Subwoofer. I have 4K Samsung and you must hook to HDMI TV output; set all your inputs (up to 4 HDMI) through the receiver and select source through the remote. I wanted to set like my old receiver with optical out from the TV to the receiver, but can not do it with this 4k set up. Easy set up tells you where your SubWoofer levels should be set and then auto tunes the sound to your listening spot with provided mic & cable. Sounds fantastic and auto tune is very accurate; then blast it as loud as you want with great sound. TV recognizes device and TV also still auto adjusts to game mode when my PS4 is selected. The one issue I have is that I wish you could select to not show the volume change on the TV screen (sometimes you need to change for movies when the sound varies and I would rather not see the volume going up or down on the TV screen). Also easy Bluetooth pairing to my android cell for music. All in all…highly recommend and very satisfied for quality & price. Best Buy delivered free and I had it in less than 24 hours!

I started out just stereo but this gem got my attention . Price was far and now I can have theater… Mores speakers more power etc… I have had it almost none stop at all ranges of sound. Crisp . Clean and easy to operate. Plus it’s real loud.. Till the neighbors downstairs started hitting the ceiling below my feet… So I turned it down and he came running up telling me turn it back up but more! Not all tenants are created equal. Got to love freedom of speech. Nice job Sony and Best Buy is the last great store out there. Customer service is perfect, very knowledgeable and very happy people… I keep buying stuff cause of that and the warranty!!! I will be a lifetime customer to Best Buy…

Sony made a good product. It was a replacement for an older product purchased in 2001. The 5.2 channel surround output was perfect for my speaker setup. I discovered the bluetooth settings a month after purchase. I connected to my phone, played my iTunes and it worked. Easy set up .

This Sony provides great sound. I found it easy to set up.

I needed a budget friendly receiver to power my devices. I'm a Sony loyalist, because wanted quality and quality I got. The sound quality from all of my devices have been enhanced.

I've always loved Sony receivers and this is a solid and dependable little powerhouse. I listen to a lot of music and watch a lot of 1080p and UHD discs and the sound and video that go through this come out sounding and looking pure and full. Research anything before you buy- this receiver is well regarded and has the right number of HDMI and speaker inputs for my modest but powerful 5.1 blu-ray/UHD set-up. I couldn't be happier. Caveats: If Atmos is your jam, this can't do that. It doesn't have wireless technology. The troubleshooting you can do with AV sync is extremely limited and sync can be an issue if you're running all kinds of inputs in and out of your set-up. I literally only have a UHD player, 5.1 speakers, and I use the tv for all streaming apps, so this is the right fit for me.

A lot of nice features. Bought this for a patio projector screen system. Price was definitely the deciding factor. It comes with all the features you would except in a surround sound receiver. The only thing it is lacking that I wish it had is a second zone, other that that I am very happy with this purchase.

Good sound. Easy to connect. Doesn’t have a ground if you’re thinking of connecting it to a record player that needs one. Had to buy a rca amp with ground to connect my record player. Good for the price when on sale.
