I did not need the 4k video capabilities, but as an audio amplifier it produces amazing surround sound on my ceiling polk speakers. I would recommend.

The pioneer was a bit fancier model but this Sony blows it out of the water. Outstanding sound!! Same speakers I had, on this receiver they sound 1000% better

Easy setup is actually easy

I had prucased a 5.1 Onkyo receiver and gave up setting it up after three hours. I'd either get no video from my inputs, no sound, or both. After trying numerous options, I packed it up. I purchased this 7.1 receiver for $130 less and it checked off all the boxes. After I plugged everything it, it took me 15 minutes to get it working. The easy setup for speaker calibration was actually easy, and it told me that my subwoofer wasn't working properly. Duh, I didn't turn it on. I'kk revisit after I get a chance to properly use it, but I am so happy that it is up and running.

Installation was simple, sound was great . Great buy !

Easy Set Up

Onkyo had a more full sound at certain volumes but was hard to set up and get accurate sound at lower volumes. This sony is better at creating realistic sound at any volume.

I may lack wifi connectivity, but that can be resolved withthe addition of roku or chrome. Decent sound. A great choice if you're setting up a home theater on a budget.
