Fickle Auto Calibration/Cheap Spring Loaded Connec

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First the rear connections - fronts are binding connectors, rear are cheap spring loaded connectors that pop off if you do anything more than touch them daintily. Now the fickle calibration... 2.0 auto calibration went fine. Added the center a few days later (3.0) - took several (upwards of 10) attempts to get this thing calibrated - finally worked. Added the sub a few days after that and bi-amped the fronts. Amp recognizes 5.1 with bi-amp and won't calibrate. Forcing it to 3.1 won't work. Removing bi-amped rears from profile to fake receiver into 3.1 doesn't work. Lots of instances of calibration issues on web - I should have heeded those warnings.

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.My biggest issue with this unit is configuring the speaker(s) using the Sony speaker calibration system: (1) too noisy (2) certain speakers will not play if your speaker setup does not match the Sony speaker pattern via 5.1, or 7.2, installed exactly like the diagram etc. The best option was to turn off the calibration system within the setup app after several attempts to follow the Sony instructions without using Sony speakers.

measurement and the volume cannot be adjusted. For accurate measurement, make sure the environment is quiet and free from noise. The Auto Calibration (D.C.A.C.) is designed to achieve proper sound balance for your room. You can also adjust the speaker levels manually. Thanks for choosing Sony. -Sam

I is not. I've had it only about 7 months and run my hand when it clips. Warm yes but not hot. And, just a heads up, the on-screen menu when you use a monitor to set-up is horrible compared to other AVR units. I think I will go back to a different brand if this is out of warranty.
