Good amplifier for the price

If the receiver was off there was no sound or picture on tv. Tried just using one cable between ARC HDMI connection on reciever and ARC HDMI on tv and now it works. Still trying other features.
I would recommend this to a friendHubby is still working with it. Sound is great!

We got it for movies, not the regular tv. Still a work in progress for us old folks @ 60, lol

My setup is 5.1 with dual subwoofers. I like the auto speaker calibration, but also has manual level adjustments if needed.

Nice sound - but pass-thru is spotty

I had issues when connecting to my TCL 6 Series display. Had issues getting ARC/CEC to work (appeared to be a cable?) and continued issues with Xbox X and PS4 Pro. In the end, I connected directly to display and they work fine. Dolby sound is great and speaker set-up was simple - just wished pass-through worked correctly.

Was able to hook old speakers up from old receiver with everything working well. I do not have the high 7.1 speakers available to enable that feature yet.

FUH-GET-ABOUT-IT, This receiver does not have eARC even though it's inferred. First one I bought power transformer failed under warranty. Hope they just give me credit so I can get a Denon. Best Buy Geek Squad was fricken awesome though.... But here. Better than Amazon and they price match.

Regarding passing lossless TrueHD or uncompressed Atmos to the receiver, you may try the following steps: Ensure you are using a Certified Premium High-Speed HDMI cable that supports eARC.
Verify that eARC is enabled on both your TV and your receiver, for your receiver press the AMP MENU button on the remote control, navigate to . Select CTRL.HDMI and set it to CTRL ON then select EARC and set it to AUTO. Also make sure that your TV has the latest firmware installed, as keeping the software updated can resolve many compatibility and performance issues. Very dissapointed

The receiver has shut down twice while watching movies. I had the volume at 27 and 28, had plenty of space around the receiver, but it seems to overheat and protection mode kicks it off. It works great if I keep the volume level at 23 or 24, but I don't get the movie theater type of sound at that level. I have had problems with the TV as well turning itself on several times a day. I tried to keep it all Sony because I always had good luck in the past, but I guess 2020 was too much for them as well.

We are sorry to hear what happen. The PROTECT and PUSH POWER messages will flash alternately when the protective device of the amplifier has been activated because a strong signal was input, or if there is a short-circuit detected. To resolve the issue, turn the amplifier off and leave it off for at least 30 minutes. If the issue continues to occur after the unit is turned back on, check the speaker cables to eliminate the short-circuit problem.
NOTE: It may be necessary to replace the speaker cables to resolve the issue.
If the issue is still unresolved, service may be required. To further assist you, we recommend visiting our Eservice website at to locate a repair center near you. https://us.esupport.sony.com/support/s/service?language=en_US

This unit has an equalizer function so you can adjust the bass and treble level of your speakers. However, frequencies for [Bass] and [Treble] are fixed.
