Great Receiver!

A receiver I purchased several years ago, stopped working, Best Buy gave me full credit toward another receiver, under a store warranty. I decided to buy this Sony A/V Home Theater Receiver because I've had another for more than 10 years and it works great. The Sony brand has always been reliable. This A/V Home Theater Receiver was easy to set up and program the speakers. It delivers the video and audio feed from several inputs well. I particularly like how easy it was to use the blue tooth with my iPhone. I would definitely recommend this Home Theater Receiver to anyone who wants a quality product and reliable brand.

Solid Receiver for the price.

I got it open box and it did exactly what it says. It works perfectly with my system and the atmos sounds great. I love that I can hook up two subs, I love a lot of bass, and it works well with my ceiling speakers. Setting it up with the built in app does take awhile, but once you get it setup its sound amazing. Definitely the best receiver I’ve had. I’ve seen better receivers, but for the price you can’t go wrong.

Sony delivers some power!

This upgrade was a pleasant suprise. The digital discrete decoding that I had been missing was immediately noticeable. This Sony 7.2ch puts out great home theater sound. I recommend Klipsch speakers with this unit as they go together well. The speaker calibration and included microphone worked great. A+ and has some decent power that was noticeable.

Surround sound scary good!

It to some time to adjust the unit to my speaker set up though. When I chose the 5.1 speaker option the unit would go into protection mode if the volume of a movie suddenly increased. I do have the additional speakers for the 7.2 speaker option but these speakers are in another room and are used for cd play only. Probably an impedance conflict with my additional speakers but I appreciate the safeguards. Solution: I installed a speaker control unit, keep the receiver in the 7.2 set up and use the additional speakers for cd play only. Once again, love the receiver, the surround is scary good.

Good Entry Level 7 Channel Receiver

Not a lot of extra features and settings which is expected at this lower price point. Has all of the standard 4k and HDMI inputs you would expect.

On screen setup and adjusting very good. Everything as listed in features and specifications. It depends what you are using it for if this is the unit for you. I use it for TV and peripheral device connections (HDMI) and Bluetooth iPod music streaming. Works great for me. Remote easy to use with all the functionality and features I need. Very satisfied.

For the price of admission you get Atmos

If you need 5.2.2 and don't want to pay 600 for a competing receiver this is the path. Punchy and will rock your good speakers and will blow them out if they are crap.

Pretty good receiver for the price

Owned for 3 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a little skeptical over buying a Sony receiver especially since best buy gives little to no information on how much power and what THD their receivers put out But after doing a little digging I found it puts out around 90w per channel at 6 ohms NOT 145w or whatever they had displayed on the box And it only has a 0.09 THD which isn't too bad for the price Overall it's been great even though it doesn't have any casting abilities But any tv nowadays should have casting built in Bluetooth is good for music

Painless Warranty Repair
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got a lemon. within a month or two the receiver would go into protect mode and shut down. I started trouble shooting and eventually go to where it would be plugged in all alone in a completely different room and shut down. This review is more to showcase the warranty repair process. It was smooth and very simple. when returned, it worked great for about 6 months. Now going into protect mode again and all warranty periods have expired. I hope this is an anomaly and now as I look to replace it with something that actually works for more than ten minutes at a time,.. I am for the first time considering moving away from a Sony product. I hope everyone else has a better experience with what looked like a very capable receiver.

It allows me to use my ceiling speakers so i now have it set up as a 5.1.2 atmos. Love it!!

Geek Squad Warranty = no help
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The unit worked fantastic until it started turning off in " protection mode " .. I verified all my speaker cables multiple times, replugged them in one at a time but even with none plugged it would still shut off after a few minutes. It worked fine for 5 months, then started this issue a couple weeks ago. My AC is set to 72, the unit has a ceiling fan above it, i tried using that as well after reading online but still it rebooted. I put another receiver in its place to make sure my speakers, subs are ok and it worked fine. This unit sounded good, i didnt know a receiver could impact the sound so much, i am guessing I just got a lemon that has a failed capacitor or something inside. -- What I am disappointed with is that I paid the additional $60 for a geek squad warranty. I have no found out that Best Buy wont do anything until the sony warranty lapses. Sony has been a real pain to deal with, I sent the receiver to sony last week, and it will be 7-10 days until they send the replacement. I have been unable to use my home theater room in a week and a half, and probably have another week and a half to wait. I bought the warranty with the expectation I would avoid any inconvenience such as this. Otherwise - i think it is a great unit and look forward to the new one.
