Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Here’s the thing, the receiver has a limited feature set, and that has caused some reviewers to rate it poorly. The problem with their view is that this is a budget friendly set, that has very good features for the money. What can you expect from this? Well you can run this in a 5.1.2 configuration for your Dolby Atmos or DTS-X needs, or you can run it in a 7.2 setup for a more immersive experience with a larger stage. You do not get pre amps and only a limited number of the connector support banana plugs. You get a sound tuning Mic that works fairly well with the receiver, and a visual interface for your TV, so you can see your speaker configuration right on screen and tweak the levels for all of them. As for the sound, well I find the entire setup sounds far better than the Bose 900, bass, and rear speaker package. Yet I paid exactly the same price as I would have for the Bose 900 and have far more flexibility with the speakers I purchased in that package. Overall, if you’re looking to build out a decent entry level Atmos setup, this is probably your best option and you will most likely enjoy what it delivers.

I am not an audiophile. I simply like nice full sound. In comparison to my Denon receiver this unit is much easier to set up, it is much easier to use, it's about 2/3 of the cost. For my small 100 square foot screening room this works perfectly.

Wish I could sing as well as this produces sound

When I got it home, unpacked the box and quickly got the wires in their right spot, and slots I was shocked to see the advancements in the few short years I had my other Sony Receiver. I was thrilled on the advancements that has taken place in the few years of my old,,oops, former receiver. Sony has proved again, they make a dang great product at affordable prices. Quality top drawer, prices to my lever,,,even better if your lucky to buy this unit at a sale price.

Many nice features for the price. I especially like the onscreen tv display for sll the settings. Sound quality is great, dolby atmos and dolby vision make for watching movies awesome. Difinatly cant go wrong with sony, and would recomment highly as a budget reciever.

Fairly simple user interface and a little under whelming. However it is only an entry level 7.2/5.1.2 receiver. That said for the price it's very capable and covers all the basics. Using it on Klipsch fronts and center with Insignia built-in wall surround and rears. Volume @ 75% sets my door vibration sensor off. This has to be one of the best starting point receivers for a new build.

And finally the CEC power off works!!! It never worked with the Onkyo receiver. Not sure if it just wasn’t compatible or what. I can’t now turn it all on/off and the sound is great and was really easy to set up.

Great amp, horrible instructions

Great sound, looks good, and supports HDMI 4K. Tons of hookups provide for a lot of options too. However....the instructions that come with this unit stink. For instance, if you want to just turn on the TV and not run through the amp, there are no published instructions for this..Lyon are basically on your own to figure it out. I finally did, but it took several days. Other than that, it’s a nice piece of hardware that will do everything you want except drain your wallet.

Glad I upgraded to Dolby Atmos, definitely worth it. My only gripe is if I connect my consoles too it I lose HDR and other display features. The still have to go into the TV and have the sound pass through the TV to the receiver. Still works but means two remotes for changing input source.

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was debating which receiver to get and it was a hard choice as there is many models and different brands to choose from but gave this one a shot since the price was right and it came with everything needed like Dolby atmos, hdmi, 7.2 channels, good wattage etc. It pushes my Polk audio speakers very well and they are not easy to push as they can take alot of wattage but this receiver sounds super nice with them. Easy on screen management and setup as well.

I've had one issue with it since I got it that I haven't been able to solve. The receiver will pop up a screen every time I turn it on to select the input. I want it to just go to the input that was last used, and not require me to get the remote to select the input that it's already on. Other than that, it's a solid unit that can pump out the noise.

The unit is all I would need for my theater room. I hooked up 2 pairs bose 901 series 6 speakers for the mains and the surrounds. Jbl control 5's handles the center channel and the rear hight channels. 1 mtx sw12 subwoofer for the bass. Sound is clean when streaming movies and 4k uhd disc's. Good purchase. Very happy. I just need one more mtx sw12 to make it complete.

My Polk Audio speakers translate the sound this unit makes wonderfully. Granted, it is not the best audio equipment but, bang for buck, it is outstanding! I have it set up with 5.1 speaker configuration which gives you a host of speaker setups controlled by a push of a remote control button with lots of power to spare.
