    Protect Mode

    Only works for about a year before going into Protect mode. You can get it fixed for free but takes 1-2 months and will just end up happening again in about a year

    Don’t Purchase This Unit!

    Never! Never! Never! Buy this unit! I have had this unit since Christmas 2022, it is being returned for service a second time. Dealing with Sony has been very frustrating. Best Buy only gives 15 days for replacement, Sony will NOT replace unit, they only repair. Last Sony item I will EVER purchase.

    It works as it's supposed to....but quite a let down. I replaced a 25 year old Technics that was state of the art back then. This is nothing compared to that. You can't even change the bass and treble. Who ever heard of something you can't change that on. Quite disappointing.

    Annoying Home menu can't be disabled

    The only way to workaround the annoying home menu popping up EVERY TIME YOU TURN IT ON is to disable HDMI-CEC. What? Seriously? Is it too much to ask for the unit to just simply skip the home menu and turn on to the last input it was on when it is turned on by HDMI-CEC? It's the most annoying thing ever and i'm getting rid of this unit just because of it.

As part of the normal operation of the AV receiver, when the unit is connected via HDMI cable you cannot disable the home menu.     I bought this to replace an older Sony AVR to take advantage of 4K picture and upgraded Dolby technologies. So far, it’s been a great workhorse and another reason why this is my fourth Sony receiver!

    I was happy with this product until I realized it does not transfer 4K HDR signal through the PS5. That's why I got it. Very disappointed

    Purchased this unit and after 2 day the video pass through stopped working. Exchanged it for the same unit, and the audio pass through never worked. Moved on to a different company.

    The Best Value 7.1 Dolby Atmos Receiver

    This is the entry way to the 7.1 ch speaker system with Dolby Atmos. Excellent paired with the Sony Core Series speakers with great sound performance to its value.

    For some reason, the volume constantly adjusts itself lower, and will randomly change to a different input, also somehow changing my TV screen input. Despite the clearly marked buttons, it is somehow not very user friendly. Although I purchased it on Black Friday, the Best Buy guys didn’t honor the discount and I somehow ended up buying this for full price. Just don’t buy this full price.

      We're sorry to hear you've been running into difficulty and the receiver changes inputs or volume level lowers by itself. We're happy to help. Follow this procedure to troubleshoot if the volume level of the stereo system raises or lowers by itself.

      1. Verify the connection between your input source and the A/V receiver to make sure they are securely connected.
      2. Try a different input jack to eliminate any issues with the current jack that is being used.
      3. Turn off the stereo system. Unplug the power cord of the stereo system from the AC wall outlet. Let the stereo system remain without power for 30 seconds. Plug the power cord back into the AC outlet.

    Get something better

    Went from a 10 year old Yamaha RX470. This thing sound completely flat. It doesn't matter how you adjust the receiver, always sound flat and hollow. This is good for someone that wants something super entry level... But even then, it simply is lacking. Menus are also lacking and awful. If you are looking to invest in a full 5.1 setup, spend a couple hundred buck more for something decent. I got a refurb Denon X1700 for $500 directly from Denon. The Denon made my Definitive Technologies ProMonitors come alive.

    Don’t buy this amp , is not reliable , mine had to be returned as it would go on to protection mode without any reason , this is a well known issue for this amp .
