    I bought this to replace an older Sony AVR to take advantage of 4K picture and upgraded Dolby technologies. So far, it’s been a great workhorse and another reason why this is my fourth Sony receiver!

    We have not been able to use this the way we thought we would. It is plugged up and we have speakers in our ceiling, however the sound keeps dropping. This was not a great purchase and now it’s too late to return.

    Purchased this unit and after 2 day the video pass through stopped working. Exchanged it for the same unit, and the audio pass through never worked. Moved on to a different company.

    This is the entry way to the 7.1 ch speaker system with Dolby Atmos. Excellent paired with the Sony Core Series speakers with great sound performance to its value.

    For some reason, the volume constantly adjusts itself lower, and will randomly change to a different input, also somehow changing my TV screen input. Despite the clearly marked buttons, it is somehow not very user friendly. Although I purchased it on Black Friday, the Best Buy guys didn’t honor the discount and I somehow ended up buying this for full price. Just don’t buy this full price.

      We're sorry to hear you've been running into difficulty and the receiver changes inputs or volume level lowers by itself. We're happy to help. Follow this procedure to troubleshoot if the volume level of the stereo system raises or lowers by itself.

      1. Verify the connection between your input source and the A/V receiver to make sure they are securely connected.
      2. Try a different input jack to eliminate any issues with the current jack that is being used.
      3. Turn off the stereo system. Unplug the power cord of the stereo system from the AC wall outlet. Let the stereo system remain without power for 30 seconds. Plug the power cord back into the AC outlet.

      If the AV receiver switches Audio/Video (A/V) inputs by itself, follow the steps provided on this link to resolve the issue: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/articles/00028351

    Went from a 10 year old Yamaha RX470. This thing sound completely flat. It doesn't matter how you adjust the receiver, always sound flat and hollow. This is good for someone that wants something super entry level... But even then, it simply is lacking. Menus are also lacking and awful. If you are looking to invest in a full 5.1 setup, spend a couple hundred buck more for something decent. I got a refurb Denon X1700 for $500 directly from Denon. The Denon made my Definitive Technologies ProMonitors come alive.

    I have had this less than 2 years, and all of a sudden, it just started turning on and off repeatedly until I unplugged it. Turns out it is a common problem with this model. If you do purchase this, get the warranty.

    WORST PURCHASE EVER !!! Bought item in May , only to have it go belly up in August . The Tv function does not work but dvds will play . Best Buy asked me to buy a PLAN , which I refused . When I took the broken unit back to Best Buy , why did they tell me they couldn’t fix it , even though they wanted to charge me for a repair plan . DO NOT PURCHASE ANY SONY RECEIVERS FROM BEST BUY . I BOUGHT 3 and TWO ARE BROKEN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ! UGH

    Don't get if planning on using with PS5

    Could not be more disappointed. I bought this specifically to run 4k from my PS5 and it doesn't work. I found forums with a bunch of people having the same problem. Having issues with certain sounds not being played and the calibration of the speakers having errors. I wish I could return it

      Thank you for the review and we're sorry to hear what happened with your AV receiver. Depending on the TV or the video device, 4K content may not be displayed. Check the video capability and settings of your TV and video device. Be sure to use a High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet. When you use high bandwidth video formats such as 4K/60p 4:4:4, 4:2:2 and 4K/60p 4:2:0 10 bit, a Premium High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet, which can support bandwidth up to 18 Gbps, is required. Be sure to connect the receiver to an HDMI input jack of a TV or video device that supports 4K. You have to connect an HDMI cable to an HDMI jack that supports HDCP 2.2 when you use a playback device for 4K resolution video content, etc.
