Always pleased with Sony products. This was an upgrade to accompany a new 65" Sony Smart TV for the media room. Replaced the similar model receiver that was still running strong after 13 years of service but lacking the sound and video upgrades as well as blue tooth connectivity. The sound quality improvement, especially of dialogue was noticeable immediately. Sale price at Best Buy as well as almost instantaneous in-store pick up notification were greatly appreciated and are consistent with outstanding customer service features of the Frisco, TX store. Was lucky enough to get one of these just after it arrived. Fairly simple user interface and a little under whelming. However it is only an entry level 7.2/5.1.2 receiver. That said for the price it's very capable and covers all the basics. Using it on Klipsch fronts and center with Insignia built-in wall surround and rears. Volume @ 75% sets my door vibration sensor off. This has to be one of the best starting point receivers for a new build.

This receiver has transformed my listening experience in a wonderful way. I am now able to broadcast TV, CD and radio through the ceiling speakers installed by previous owners of my home ... a delightful sound system.

Yes, I did need a new receiver, it was time. When I got it home, unpacked the box and quickly got the wires in their right spot, and slots I was shocked to see the advancements in the few short years I had my other Sony Receiver. I was thrilled on the advancements that has taken place in the few years of my old,,oops, former receiver. Sony has proved again, they make a dang great product at affordable prices. Quality top drawer, prices to my lever,,,even better if your lucky to buy this unit at a sale price.

I was debating which receiver to get and it was a hard choice as there is many models and different brands to choose from but gave this one a shot since the price was right and it came with everything needed like Dolby atmos, hdmi, 7.2 channels, good wattage etc. It pushes my Polk audio speakers very well and they are not easy to push as they can take alot of wattage but this receiver sounds super nice with them. Easy on screen management and setup as well.

Yes, this amp is awesome! Great sound, looks good, and supports HDMI 4K. Tons of hookups provide for a lot of options too. However....the instructions that come with this unit stink. For instance, if you want to just turn on the TV and not run through the amp, there are no published instructions for this..Lyon are basically on your own to figure it out. I finally did, but it took several days. Other than that, it’s a nice piece of hardware that will do everything you want except drain your wallet.

Very happy with this purchase. My Polk Audio speakers translate the sound this unit makes wonderfully. Granted, it is not the best audio equipment but, bang for buck, it is outstanding! I have it set up with 5.1 speaker configuration which gives you a host of speaker setups controlled by a push of a remote control button with lots of power to spare.

Great sound with alot features. Easy to setup. Solid equalizer with deep bass. But front surround sound needs improvement.

Sounds excellent, and easy to set up. I hope it lasts as long as the Sony receiver it replaced. ;)

The receiver is easy to setup and has good sound. I've had one issue with it since I got it that I haven't been able to solve. The receiver will pop up a screen every time I turn it on to select the input. I want it to just go to the input that was last used, and not require me to get the remote to select the input that it's already on. Other than that, it's a solid unit that can pump out the noise.

Took my chances with an open box (GOOD) unit and is was worth the gamble! Saved $200 while it was on sale and it seems brand new! Was just missing the EQ mic but I had an old one to get the initial set up under way. The 790 is the perfect, low hassle, streamlined 4k receiver. I bought it as an upgrade that could work with Atmos and the PS5. its smaller than my old DENON so I was able to move a shelf to give the PS5 more room to breathe. Some of the set up is tedious as it is a barebones system requiring you to go in to the display menu (AMP MENU) to set the inputs to ENHANCED to get all the options. but once complete and HDMI-CEC/ARC is set up, Its perfect for our family!

Very good av receiver for the money. Easy setup. The unit is all I would need for my theater room. I hooked up 2 pairs bose 901 series 6 speakers for the mains and the surrounds. Jbl control 5's handles the center channel and the rear hight channels. 1 mtx sw12 subwoofer for the bass. Sound is clean when streaming movies and 4k uhd disc's. Good purchase. Very happy. I just need one more mtx sw12 to make it complete.

Good product easyset up good sound not all the bells and whistles I replaced a 4k Yamaha receiver wasn't that old

Love this!! Ups the game on any content that Isnt surround sound formatted by upmixing. Many choices for audio formats, awesome interface to change anything and has power for all 7.2 speakers I connected. Love the e-arc feature for my new Samsung oled.

I would definitely recommend this Receiver. Sounds and functions very good. If you get high-end speakers, then you'll definitely need an amp for more power.

Easy to install. Good sound. Needed a receiver to use with a 4k TV and this had all the features at a reasonable price

Outstanding value. Has all basic feature and allows wireless sound to my surround sound. Highly recommend it. Only draw back. No AM feature for the hard core radio buffs.
