If you continuously use this receiver at a large volume, the cabinet temperature of the top, side and bottom rises considerably. Stopped working after 15 months.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased one in Dec. 2023, stopped working at week by going into Protect mode. Followed the troubleshooting in the manual, but the unit was still going into protect mode even after 15 minutes and with nothing connected. Checked the transistors inside and could find none that were blown or faulty. So most likely something on the mother board itself has issue. My last Sony receiver before this one worked for over a decade before I decided to upgrade, and I'm really disappointed. Switching to another brand, most likely Denon after this.

Great Starter Receiver

IMO it’s a mid-range A/V receiver, which is great for someone who is just starting off. Super easy to connect to your TV, speakers, turntable, and it’s got Bluetooth, so, you can even listen to online streaming apps from any Bluetooth enabled device.

Had issues 2x with blu Ray not working-had to disconnect cable a few times to get it to work. Auto calibration for surround sound not accurate- better off doing it manually. Many setting options only available via front of receiver menu, not on tv- really hard to navigate

Switching between streaming and network is not so easy. This is with a new sony bravia tv. I would have thought the syncing would be more fluid and clear.

Doesnt work with ps4 pro

Sony Quality Has Failed -Repair Return Not Easy

I constantly had intermittent video pass through problems where it has sound but no video. I had to send it back to an authorized Sony repair station and when they received it they said nothing is wrong with it and refused to replace the board that controls HDMI video. They sent it back and I reconnected it and it only worked randomly or “when it wanted” with all HDMI inputs. Now I have the same problem with this dead Sony receiver that will not work permanently (now) and with every HDMI input including The Sony PlayStation 4 Pro, Sony PlayStation 3, Sony HD Blu-Ray Player, The Apple TV Box, Xfinity Peacock + Box, and the Dish Network inputs all dead. Now I have to connection each component to the Sony 75” HDTV separately u til I get a replacement Receiver. Sony receiver is now not covered by the warranty after they sent it back to me “never repaired”. Waste of my time boxing it up, sending it to New York from California all to be told nothing is wrong with it. I used to praise Sony and now I am really disappointed with the quality. I have older Sony equipment that is 30-40 years old that still works like A Sony Beta-Max SL-2700 that was state of the art back in the 80’s. It still plays perfectly. Todays Sony receiver’s are not the same quality at all and the hoops you have to jump through to get warranty service is just plain ridiculous. It took me 2 hours to take my audio video system apart, tag all the input wires, discount all 8 of the surround sound speakers all to be told nothing is wrong with your Sony receiver. It’s almost like they want to wear you down so you do not pursue your warranty claim. Again, I’m very disappointed in how terrible the Sony receiver quality is and the lack of vision that Sony has put into these plain looking receiver units. In the past they would light up a blue led bar showing Dolby Digital decode status and that surround sound was working. Now you just have a cheap black box with no concern for quality (like many other brands) and with a price tag of $500+ for a Sony Receiver that must cost less than $50 to produce including labor.
