I have this receiver now for over 3 weeks. Totally enjoying it. I got the open box for $250 and its totally worth it. Condition is excellent. This receiver has tons of feature which is difficult to find in this price range. Missing internet is not a problem. My klipsch speaker sound so much better. At this price , it has Dolby ATMOS. I recently moved into a house that has a room with six pre-wired speakers built into the walls, 3 in front and 3 in back. I was looking for a receiver to hook all these speakers up and get surround sound. Seeing as 6.1 systems aren't made any more, I found this Sony 7.2 unit which allowed me to connect it as a 6.1 system (I also purchased a subwoofer to complete the setup). So far, the system has been working great in that capacity. For now I'm using this system in the simplest way possible--I don't have Atmos speakers nor do I have a 4k TV hooked up the system. It's being used primarily for my Fios box and Bluray player and for that it's performing wonderfully. If I had any complaints it would be with the auto-calibrate, which overall worked well, but didn't recognize my pre-installed speakers quite right. They are small speakers capable only of high sounds but the auto-calibration set them as large, which negated much of the surround effect. Once I manually set them to small the sound was much better. I generally keep the sound field set to Direct but don't notice much difference when setting it to Dolby Surround or Neural-X, as I think those are to use Atmos speakers that I don't have. So overall this was a great buy, especially for $250 during the holiday sale. If I ever get Atmos speakers or a 4k TV I'll update to see how those perform with the system.

It’s a great receiver, and it’s sounds really good with my Bose shelve speakers, center, and surround sound speakers. I was very impressed and it even startled me while I was watching Frankenstein move. It’s great for the price if you are looking for a mid price reciever.

A very compact receiver that was very easy to setup. It's primary use will be for our home theater. It's more than capable of driving our speaker towers, subwoofer and satellite speakers. Sounds great.

I use it for a 5.1.2 Dolby atmos system with 4K tv. Works well. Says on the screen when audio is in atmos. Does take some programming with the help of the book to get set up correctly for my speaker set up. Sounds good. Turns on/off automatically with the Apple TV or when I connect my phone with Bluetooth. Plenty of power for my 145w rms speakers.

I upgraded from a Yamaha RX-V381BL which was a good unit but lacked the power I needed as well as only a 5.1 receiver. I have always loved the quality of Sony and this unit is no eception. Great feayures, multiple ports and easy to setup. I matched it with all Sony speakers and it sounds amazing.

Great entry-level Atmos receiver. I’ve had this for around 2 years now and have been extremely satisfied! It is hands-down the best bang for your buck in the 7 channel range of receivers!

I bought this receiver after my other Sony receiver bit the dust after 17 years of service. I was expecting at least equal sound, but I got a big surprise! The sound quality was much better than my previous unit. I bought it on sale during Xmas and it was only $20 more than the 5.2 channel receiver. Plus it came a few more features! Definitely give this receiver a chance.

I bought this AV for decoding a custom Dolby atmos config through klipsch speakers set and it did the job so effectively. Highly recommend it for efficiency and compatibility.

This Sony receiver is great. It can be easily customized once you read the manual. The quick setup instructions will get you going quick. But I highly recommend downloading the entire manual for more detailed reference. It has a lot of great features. I have it matched with a Sony tv and I'm enjoying the freedom of just using one remote to control everything.

I got this from my wife for Christmas. I kept telling her that I was not getting what I wanted from my 4K TV and 4K BluRay DVD player because my receiver was so old that it had no HDMI ports and my audio was going through an optical cable. I have a total surround sound speaker set-up so in order to take advantage of the whole package I needed a new receiver. Well I couldn't be happier with the results. I can understand all of the voices now because all dialogue comes from my center speaker while all other sounds and effects come from my other speakers. And to hear things travel from right to left or front to back is what I knew I was missing. I would highly recommend this receiver to anyone who wants or needs to upgrade their system after upgrading to 4K and not having the right receiver to drive it.

This receiver has transformed my listening experience in a wonderful way. I am now able to broadcast TV, CD and radio through the ceiling speakers installed by previous owners of my home ... a delightful sound system.

Good. Overall unit is better than Denon I had. Much more intuitive switching between other devices attached to the Sony. For example: when I turn on Apple TV, the Sony knows and switches over to that device without me having to hit the button…the Denon didn’t do that. Plus I had issues with the Denon firmware updates and caused the unit to crash and unrecoverable without having to send it to a factory service center. This led me to shop for another receiver and choose the Sony. The Sony has great sound, however the onscreen controls could be better. It takes a bit of efforts to try to get the speakers tuned for the room, and could use more controls to customize a bit further. The Calibration tool works some of the time, yet, when it failed and got a Error message, didn’t provide any real data on what exactly was the error. I also didn’t find a way to set the speaker settings back to default, if needed. The modes were adequate, for Music, Sports etc. Yet, I found myself having to modify these to my liking. Bottom line, Sony makes a great unit, much better than any of the Denons I’ve had in the past.

Great Entry Level Receiver. Paired this up with the Definitive Electronics Pro Cinema Speaker system. Works great I am hearing effects in movies and songs that I haven’t heard before. The receiver is a phenomenal deal to have Atmos at a great price point. I have it set up as a 5.1 system and it’s amazing so I can only imagine adding 2 more speakers to make it Atmos. Great Equipment!!!!

Last receiver I bought was almost 20 years ago. Sound is excellent and easy make adjustments. Hook up was very easy and instructions were good.

I had not updated my receiver since 4K and Dolby Atmos became affordable. I love this receiver, especially how easy it was to set up for a target listening space with an enclosed microphone. Recommended.

This receiver was easy to set up thanks to Sony making all of its products easy to link. It produces crisp and accurate sounds throught the different channels/speakers. A great buy for the money.

Bought this as an open box special for about half of the price it was in good shape not one scratch and works great even supports Atmos and sounds great in my living room very loud and clean sound better than I expected I would definitely buy again and recommend goes great with my Sony x950 g 65 inch television good stuff
