This receiver is great. I have 4 speakers and a subwoofer plugged into it. Great sound! We need to update our TV to enjoy all of it’s capabilities, but even with the old TV the sound is great! Setup was pretty easy and straightforward. I recommend this unit.

Need something just simple but all the features of the new smart TV and Smart HDMI cords. This is the puppy. Amazing how just from my phone I can connect to the receiver and it turns everything on to Bluetooth music etc. what a great price too!

I have not had any problems with this device since purchasing 1x month ago. Sound quality is good, speaker connections were accessible, and it easily connects to my phone, iPad, and laptop via Bluetooth. Easy to use, and is compatible with the remote for my Sony television.

Price conscious unit that really performs. Upgraded from an older Sony, upgraded the speakers and added flush mount height speakers in the ceiling. What an upgrade and amazing sound. It was overdue but I am now extremely happy. The projector has a 93 inch image and everything is now like you are participating and not experiencing everything from a distance. Maiden voyage was Top Gun Maverick (WOW). Then NFL playoffs. I got my bragging rights back!

This is nice product I have my ps5 and my Xbox series X with a 4k blu ray player and it get the job done on having a great sound system. The sound is clear and the bass is very nice on it. I don’t even have it up 25% and the people who live above me said that they can hear it clear in there house I do recommend getting this but wait for it to go on sale and it do often

My old home TV system had problems so I picked this one up. Works great and sounds really good with my Bose setup.

Easy set up, used for 5.1 surround sound as well as playing music in two rooms: living room 5.1 and kitchen with 2 additional wired speakers. Wish these AVRs did not look like 1985 but that's not unique to Sony.

My old, old Kenwood receiver bit the dust and then I pondered what to do next for my surround sound experience? I reached getting a soundbar and let me tell you that is a difficult choice-there are way too many choices to make a good decision, well at least IMO. I also looked at a new surround system and it seemed like to me that the choices were really cheap to really expensive-I was shooting for mid-ground in price wise. That's where this Sony comes into the story. It was a real nice find. By the way, I offered up the old broken Kenwood to Craigslist free to anyone that could fix it-that got plenty of offers and eventually it found it's way to someone willing to give it go. I still had the speakers for the Kenwood, which are still pretty good for my setup, and with this Sony the sound is great. My ultra HD blu ray player is great as well-the old, old Kenwood wouldn't support that so this feature just blows the old, old one away. I really couldn't be happier with this purchase.

If you're considering a sound system, choose Sony for outstanding quality! The STR-DH790 is an investment you won't regret. After more than a year of use, it still impresses me with its exceptional performance.

Easily one of the best receivers I ever own. The sound quality hooked up to my speakers sounds fantastic. Easy to set up and use. Definitely recommend to anyone who wants a good sound system.

Great sound and easy to setup much better than the older model that it replaced.

It works. The sound quality is good and it decodes Dolby Atmos, so if that's all you need this could be great for you. I wish it accepted banana plugs, but most won't at this price point. I had to build a time machine and return to the 2000's so that I could connect all my devices to the TV and pass the audio back to the receiver, rather than connecting everything to the receiver and passing the video through to the TV. For whatever reason, connecting inputs to the receiver and trying to switch between them just doesn't play nicely with the TV. In fairness to the receiver, this could just as easily be a problem with the TV, which is a smart TV of a different brand.

Perfect and awesome quality picture and sound. Dolby Atmos & 4K works great and terrific sound quality as well.

I love it, delivers great power to my Bose speakers

I own the brother to this the STR-DN-850 and they are very similar. This unit worked fine out-of-the-box and should be thru the break-in or possible failure stage. I like the sound it produces on my 7.1 speaker system and its amenities. The menu is slightly paired down, but the price was less. This unit does has NAGware in the menu. On startup the system always wants you to enter what you want to view from the menu each time. I watch the TV mostly and it makes me select the TV EVERY time before the on-screen menu will go away. I tried looking for a setting to just play the TV unless I want to select something else, but no luck. If someone from Sony is here let me know how to set it to always start on TV without having to select it. I tried both HDMI ports.

I was looking for a receiver that was 4K ready and offered Dolby Atmos. It seems that most receivers offering Dolby Atmos were highly priced. This Sony receiver was in-expensive but Yet had just the right specifications to be exceptional for its price-point.

This Sony receiver works great. Took a bit to figure out the settings as with any equipment. Easy set-up used for speaker calibration worked well. Price was fair for an A/V system.

Purchased a sound system to replace our inop theater sound unit. Installed easily and was in use quickly. The sound quality and performance is outstanding. My wife and enjoy watching movies and this unit makes the experience more enjoyable. Thanks Best Buy!

Awesome way to set up surround sound for your home TV area. When this is on sale, it is an absolute bargain. Not the best brand, but good reliable products from Sony, if you aren't a sound snob.
