Using the setup in 5.1 with Definitive Technology ProCinema 600 speaker package. Able to precisely control speaker output with this receiver. Sounds great!

It has the basic necessities for your family room and a simple atmos set up. The instructions are simple enough too if you are really new to setting up speakers. If you’re looking for zones / wifi capabilities it’s not the receiver for you. Only “con” is that the receiver remote control needs direct sight of the receiver itself. If you have a Sony tv and are running ARC; after you set up the receiver to the tv - the tv remote should work to control basic receiver functions such as on/off and volume up/down. If you want to fine tune the receiver you would still need to use the receiver remote and make sure the receiver has a direct line of site to the remote.

This upgrade was a pleasant suprise. The digital discrete decoding that I had been missing was immediately noticeable. This Sony 7.2ch puts out great home theater sound. I recommend Klipsch speakers with this unit as they go together well. The speaker calibration and included microphone worked great. A+ and has some decent power that was noticeable.

On screen setup and adjusting very good. Everything as listed in features and specifications. It depends what you are using it for if this is the unit for you. I use it for TV and peripheral device connections (HDMI) and Bluetooth iPod music streaming. Works great for me. Remote easy to use with all the functionality and features I need. Very satisfied.

I like the hd audio and the 4k comparability. You can pay a lot for an amp this amp is reasonably priced. It has good qualities. It performs surprisingly well.

I purchased it because one of my receivers failed, and the units that I was interested in purchasing were all on back order. The unit was rather picky about connections to my computers, so the setup was a little bit frustrating. In the end, I did manage to get the important one working with it. The sound quality is pretty good considering the price point. There is a periodic hum in the speakers when it is idle, but it is not too obnoxious like other cheaper receivers I have listened to over the years. The bottom line for this receiver is that for the price point, its a good unit and worth looking into.

A receiver I purchased several years ago, stopped working, Best Buy gave me full credit toward another receiver, under a store warranty. I decided to buy this Sony A/V Home Theater Receiver because I've had another for more than 10 years and it works great. The Sony brand has always been reliable. This A/V Home Theater Receiver was easy to set up and program the speakers. It delivers the video and audio feed from several inputs well. I particularly like how easy it was to use the blue tooth with my iPhone. I would definitely recommend this Home Theater Receiver to anyone who wants a quality product and reliable brand.

Pretty good receiver for the price

Owned for 3 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a little skeptical over buying a Sony receiver especially since best buy gives little to no information on how much power and what THD their receivers put out But after doing a little digging I found it puts out around 90w per channel at 6 ohms NOT 145w or whatever they had displayed on the box And it only has a 0.09 THD which isn't too bad for the price Overall it's been great even though it doesn't have any casting abilities But any tv nowadays should have casting built in Bluetooth is good for music

It to some time to adjust the unit to my speaker set up though. When I chose the 5.1 speaker option the unit would go into protection mode if the volume of a movie suddenly increased. I do have the additional speakers for the 7.2 speaker option but these speakers are in another room and are used for cd play only. Probably an impedance conflict with my additional speakers but I appreciate the safeguards. Solution: I installed a speaker control unit, keep the receiver in the 7.2 set up and use the additional speakers for cd play only. Once again, love the receiver, the surround is scary good.

It talks to smart TV's like it's one with them! However, it's power claims seem exaggerated. This unit claims "165w" per channel and I can confirm it is definitely not hitting that number. All things considered, this is an awesome unit, just not paired well with my power hungry speakers.
