It’s a great receiver, and it’s sounds really good with my Bose shelve speakers, center, and surround sound speakers. I was very impressed and it even startled me while I was watching Frankenstein move. It’s great for the price if you are looking for a mid price reciever.

My old home TV system had problems so I picked this one up. Works great and sounds really good with my Bose setup.

I bought this system and started out with 2 book shelf speakers and a center channel speaker. I decided to add two more speakers to see how good the surround sound sounded. I was blown away by the sound on the side speakers and really felt the movie in my home. After further reading I decided to add 2 more speakers to take advantage of the 7 channels in this receiver. Wow I’ve got to admit I’ve actually looked around occasionally because of the sound coming from the rear speakers, Me and my family are very happy with this Sony amplifier. Next I’m going to get 2 more speakers to take advantage of the Atmos sound can’t wait

This receiver packs a punch works great w/large & small speakers switches HDMI channels really well, sound quality is clear in Dolby Digital 5.2 does a great job!!!.

This AVR is fantastic! It talks to smart TV's like it's one with them! However, it's power claims seem exaggerated. This unit claims "165w" per channel and I can confirm it is definitely not hitting that number. All things considered, this is an awesome unit, just not paired well with my power hungry speakers.

This Sony provides surround sound, 5.1, 7.1 even 7.2, at a relatively low price. If one has the speakers and input, one can experience sounds coming from all directions. On the other hand, one does not get the tone quality one would get from a more expensive unit. Even, I, not an audiophile, notice the difference. I would recommend this Sony to someone who wants the full surround experience without paying a higher price.

A number of ways to wire this receiver to whatever audio/video components you make as part of your home system. 790 watts pushing a very clean 7.1 Bose speaker system over here. Perfect

Great amplifier and even better price! I have this setup in my bedroom with my Denon surround sound speakers hooked up to this amp and I couldn't be any more content!

The unit worked fantastic until it started turning off in " protection mode " .. I verified all my speaker cables multiple times, replugged them in one at a time but even with none plugged it would still shut off after a few minutes. It worked fine for 5 months, then started this issue a couple weeks ago. My AC is set to 72, the unit has a ceiling fan above it, i tried using that as well after reading online but still it rebooted. I put another receiver in its place to make sure my speakers, subs are ok and it worked fine. This unit sounded good, i didnt know a receiver could impact the sound so much, i am guessing I just got a lemon that has a failed capacitor or something inside. -- What I am disappointed with is that I paid the additional $60 for a geek squad warranty. I have no found out that Best Buy wont do anything until the sony warranty lapses. Sony has been a real pain to deal with, I sent the receiver to sony last week, and it will be 7-10 days until they send the replacement. I have been unable to use my home theater room in a week and a half, and probably have another week and a half to wait. I bought the warranty with the expectation I would avoid any inconvenience such as this. Otherwise - i think it is a great unit and look forward to the new one.

This receiver was easy to install and sounds GREAT!! If you want to connect to an external FM antenna it's not very easy. The supplied FM antenna is only good for local reception.

Got this receiver to round out my Audio/Visual system in my house. Works well with the Sony TV, easy to set up, produces great sound. Passes through 4K movies with no degradation.

I love it sounds awesome no need for a HDMI switcher as this does it fantastic sound pretty cool it uses a mic to auto tune the speakers for where you sit really cool

Great Dolby atmos receiver for a small apartment. Does all I needed to do and dvd, blu rays and 4K sounds and looks good as it’s passing thru.

The Sony STRDH790 gives me all that I need in a “budget” receiver. It’s easy to setup and provides adequate power for my modest home theater.

Sounds good. I had to scratch my head to try to figure out exactly how to connect my 9 speakers since 3 of my DefTechs also have built-in subwoofers. I used the automatic sound setup with the included microphone, didn't think it gave sufficient bass so I adjusted it manually. Occasionally the ARC doesn't work until I power cycle, but that is probably a failure of the TV instead of the Sony. Doesn't happen very often, no big deal. No complaints.

Great receiver for the price. Has full 7.2 with Atmos. Needed to upgrade for my 4k tv.

I really wanted a 4K Blu Ray disc player for Christmas and since my Yamaha Receiver wasn’t 4K I needed an upgrade. I looked at Denon and Onkyo in similar price ranges and ultimately decided on this model. The one feature I wish the Sony had that my Yamaha had was commands and display settings would appear on screen. The only thing that appears on screen is when I change volume. If it had that feature I would give it five stars. If you want Dolby ATMOS and 4K capabilities but can’t afford a high price model, this is a good model to choose!
