Good once set up

The receiver was on sale for $299 and all the speakers were half price which makes the setup a great value under a grand. The only issue I had was that the easy setup that launches upon initial setup does not set up the inputs for the best sound and picture. You need to go into the amp menu and make the changes manually. The good thing is that it's explained how to do this in the manual.

The seamless functionality of this receiver is a huge leap forward compared to our ten year old Yamaha receiver. This is the second one in our home, first one was purchased approximately a year ago. We really enjoy our Sony receivers, and highly recommend it.

Setup was simple, the menu is nothing fancy but with the auto calibration feature it's difficult to mess it up. I bought an "excellent condition" open box from best buy and the only thing missing was the auto calibration microphone. Luckily I was referred to this product by a friend so I was able to borrow his to utilize the feature.

I am running it with a 5.1.2 Surround Sound system, but it can work with a 7.2 as well. I love this receiver because I am able to play sounds through it via bluetooth and my phone. I strongly recommend this for anything in the market for a reciever.

What A Upgrade!

My 10+ year old Yamaha receiver crashed and decided on the Sony based on the specs. I have a 3.1 channel set up and the Front Surround setting gives the feeling of being in a 5.1 set up. The 4K UHD pass through is a big upgrade feature for amazing picture quality when using the 4K HDMI cables. I use the Bluetooth to play albums from my Bluetooth turntable. I am very happy with this Sony receiver!

Very Decent A/V Home Theater Receiver

I was considering replacing it with a sound bar but I have some really good speakers that I did not want to lose. I looked at all the different options and thought that I would try this one. It was on sale at that time - so that was a huge plus. So far it has been working really well and I can't complain about it. It actually was a pretty major upgrade from the older unit that I had. It's a lot simpler to use.

UI is bad, but everything else is great.

This unit does everything I need, and using ARC makes everything painless and I never have to even turn it on, it just sets the appropriate input and power state as needed (thank goodness). The UI is really clunky and looks awful like most Sony products, but the quality and functionality is what's most important to me- and like most Sony products this delivers on that front.
