The sound quality is pretty good and I noticed it has the ability to connect 2 subwoofers. It does not have connections for a preamp however. Overall, this is a solid entry lever receiver. My only complaints would be the front display is a bit small and it does not have connections for a power amp.

I got rid of a Harmon Karson to get this one. 7.1 surround!! I have Klipchs thundering everywhere!!

Replaced it with this for better features and control. Even though this was less expensive than what it replaced - it’s performance on surround sound separation, and clarity on voice and punch on bass reveals sounds I didn’t hear before. I’m very happy with it!

Careful with open box purchases

Other than that it was fine just check everything in the box

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great receiver however if attempting to play music on it, I have found that the built in audio profiles tweak the music so much that its almost un-listenable. It trys to throw the music to different channels so much that it just sounds weird. But if I connect through bluetooth, it sounds exactly the way it should. May just take some more tuning but so far I have spent a couple hours trying to change settings and minimize its "enhancement" with no success. Otherwise its been great. I did have to purchase some USB powered cooling fans because if played at high volume for more than 20 minutes, it was going into protect mode and would shut down. Since adding the fans though, its been solid. I think that is one improvement Sony should make. I dont understand how they expect this kind of wattage to dissipate heat naturally.

This unit has Dolby Atmos. No WIFI for streaming. Need to configure HDMI for enhanced mode. Wish it auto set. Almost took it back not knowing it could be set. My XBox has a video mode check and it showed all modes good. Download Dolby access from the Play Store and set the sound for Dolby Atmos. You'll be happy. This unit is the bomb.

Wanted to upgrade my old sony receiver and I'm glad I went with this one. Everything on it is perfect. And for those that say that the Harmony universal remote doesn't work with this unit, then you are doing something wrong. My remote synced up to it with no trouble whatsoever. So I highly recommend this unit if you want superior surround sound.

Sold it and got this one and I'm extremely pleased. Pumps out the volume, plenty of inputs, and easy to use. Give it serious consideration if you are looking for a new one.

Alot of reviews say good for beginners but dropping 600 plus on something is a commitment. I could have went down a few models but I figured if I'm in I am in! Plus a there's room for growing my system now. Sound bars have let me down to many times. If you have a nice TV don't you want a nice audio. It's big though. Make sure you have space.

Sony Receiver Installation to new Samsung 58" TV

I have TV, Audio for this unit, and DVD player remote, and Cable remote! The Techs installing didn't tell me about the Universal Remote! So now I guess I have to buy one or stay with the 2 most used ones near me! Overall Service was fast and almost efficient.

They are just not user friendly, one feature that I was happy with was being able to adjust the bass for the FL and FR channels. I have a set of vintage tower speakers, and other receivers would not push them. I now can fell them close to as much as my powered sub.

The Geek squad installed this with a surround sound set-up, It has performed better than expected and at par with the Yamaha receivers. Hopefully, thi receiver will last longer than the Yamaha's. I bought 2 Yamaha receivers and they only lasted for about a year and a half. The Yamaha were about more expensive than this receiver.
