Good receiver but could be better

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great receiver however if attempting to play music on it, I have found that the built in audio profiles tweak the music so much that its almost un-listenable. It trys to throw the music to different channels so much that it just sounds weird. But if I connect through bluetooth, it sounds exactly the way it should. May just take some more tuning but so far I have spent a couple hours trying to change settings and minimize its "enhancement" with no success. Otherwise its been great. I did have to purchase some USB powered cooling fans because if played at high volume for more than 20 minutes, it was going into protect mode and would shut down. Since adding the fans though, its been solid. I think that is one improvement Sony should make. I dont understand how they expect this kind of wattage to dissipate heat naturally.

This receiver works great with my Samsung TV and it's much cheaper than an Onkyo receiver. It was very easy to set-up and the sound quality is amazing. I've had the receiver for 2 months and haven't had any issues thus far.

Sold it and got this one and I'm extremely pleased. Pumps out the volume, plenty of inputs, and easy to use. Give it serious consideration if you are looking for a new one.

It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles but what it does have is excellent tone, and surround separation. Want a good solid quality receiver, I highly recommend it. Not like the binding wires that are clips in the back, however it may be easier for some.

Nice receiver

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The receiver seems to do its job, we haven’t had many hiccups we have it attached to a LG tv and it’s set up using ARC, it just seems at times it fails to switch properly. The only issue I had was that when using with our xfinity cable box you don’t get many surround sound features but if we use our tv apps or Apple TV it’s amazing.

I also upgraded my TV and speakers at the same time (all Sony) and I couldn't be happier. My prior receiver and primary floor speakers were actually too powerful for the smaller space I have them in now. Also the sound output is amazing now what with the Dolby Atmos and HDR output capability.

Good middle level receiver

The next level up receiver with wi-fi was twice the cost so I went with this model since I am not using for full blown A/V activities all the time. This will get the job done for most set ups.

Being a guy I did not read the instructions, so I had some trouble with the receiver always going into "protect" mode. However, with a little help, I got it set correctly now and I am very happy. I am using it to power a set of Klipsch surround speakers and it does not disappoint whatsoever.
